image My husband is going through a cancer radiation treatment. The facility is clean and organized. No visitors allowed unless you have permission. Which I have. The staff is very friendly. They ate always on time.Nurses always make time to answer questions. When they say they will call the do. Usually before end of day. The team works well with other physicians. They explain everything in detail. They give you literature to read. And I suggest readingeverything. They require masks. They make sure you and your family are kept up to date on treatment. Dr.O'Meara is fantastic.

image This is by far THE most unorganized cluster mess of an office I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. As a cancer patient, I expect my doctor's office to have it together so that they aren't contributing to the already tough life of a cancer patient. This is Massachusetts- there are plenty of excellent Oncologists, so for your sake, please DO NOT choose this place!

image Well the first week of Feb 28th chemo treatment is almost over and done with for my stage 3 lung cancer treatments. I only have to survive Fridays Feb 31st treatment then "I'm free" at least until Feb 4th when Dr. O'Meara and his crazy radiation people in their lead line scrubs comes and drag me off to their treatment center to place me on the rack, err, ahh, hmm... I mean table (probably more like a slab from what I've seen from CT, MRI and Pet Scan tables with my wide girth) for radiation simulation where they pretend to know what their doing and mark me up for where to zap me to help get rid of "Mr C". That nefarious Cancer guy that decided to make his presence known in my old and decrepit body. From meeting my Oncologist Dr. Anamur (Fantastic doctor) and Andrea (Nurse Practitioner) to my 1st 3 1/2 hour chemo session dropping to 2 1/2 hour sessions, Nurse Kelly and all the Cancer Center staff has been great!  In fact having the front row seat to the chemo treatment center makes it easy to see and hear how the Lowell Cancer Center treats its patients.Nurse Kelly who had the unfortunate pleasure of being assigned to me for the week is great. So great in fact, she even yelled at me to say "wake up and go home" after today's Jan 30th treatment. Like I said "I hear good" with my bionic ears.  :) "Huh? What did you say?"She knows how to you make feel comfortable and I observed this same dedication form all the nurses and staff at Lowell General main hospital and the Cancer Center staff. Here's a shout out to Lou who Volunteers at the Cancer Center. "Hi Lou" just a quick  "thank you" for your service to us unruly patients." and also to Heidi my social worker who caught all my mistakes when I filled out the Health Care Proxy form.  Good eye Lady... Good eye! What surprised me the most was that either I was given incorrect information of what aches and pains of the possible side effects my chemo treatment would cause or I'm abnormal as I didn't experience any Aches or Pains, Nausea, or Vomiting  or any other weirdness except for observing a small San Andreas tremor in my right and left hands this morning while trying to pour a cup of coffee. I wonder?  Is this how Californians feel in the morning when trying to get their cup of Joe?  Yea  I know, I know... "Don't talk like that" while your eating or undergoing treatment. No this isn't a suck up review  just to try and lower my bill, well maybe a little after finding out the cost of one OBSCENELY OVER PRICED Chemo Patch which darn near put me in my grave when I heard the price which I can't tell you dot dot dot ... as that would consist of "TMI" or "Information Over Load" and may cause undo suffering to you or others. So I again only have to survive Fridays Feb 31st treatment then "I'm free"  at least until Feb 4th when they simulate my treatment plan (and you wonder why they call it "Practicing Medicine")when they awaken the Radiation Master Dr. O'Meara and have their turn at me in their lead lined scrubs and place me on the slab to do their simulations on how they want to treat me and follow their master plan to "Take Over The World"  No, NO!  "THATS NOT HOW It WORKS!"  THAT'S "The Pinky and the Brain Show"  Wrong Show!Sorry. Ahem!  after which they do both Chemo and Radiation treatments in the same day. Then we'll find out if I suffer the consequences.Sorry for the long winded revue but I wanted YOU to get a taste of my first session at Lowell General Cancer Center.(Eww! wrong euphemism)How aboutI wanted YOU to know how my first chemo session at Lowell General Cancer Center went. Now if they would only serve some hot meats there that would be great.Hint Hint! The End.
