I began attending tutoring sessions for the ACT in July 2018 as a sophomore. I had heard mixed reviews about your facility and before hearing about Huntington, I reviewed for the ACT with Steve Leake. For some background information on myself, I am a straight-A, 4.0 student that has attended the most prestigious private school in Little Rock. Not knowing much information on Huntington, my family decided it would be best for me to start being tutored for the ACT because I plan on moving to California to pursue a career in digital marketing. After taking the initial test, making the full payment of a whopping $4,000, and meeting with the director, my family began to recognize the scam we had gotten ourselves into. After meeting with the director once I received my initial test scores back, she worried my family that I would not even be able to get into UALR, UAPB, or any other minuscule Arkansas college; Whereas, I planned on applying to only colleges in Southern California. My ACT score did not reflect my grades as a student at my high school being in the top percent of my class, taking AP and honors classes. The director continued to discourage me about my future and my family did not appreciate this because she led me to believe that I would be a complete failure if I did not get a 34 on the ACT. Following this meeting, I began taking tutoring lessons and my family was appalled by the amount of homework the tutors assigned in addition to me being a student at the top private school in town. Along with that, the tutors just sat on their lazy rears while students like me were struggling to understand these concrete topics. Aside from a low score on the multiple-choice section of the ACT, I scored an 11/12 on the writing portion, which proved that I am academically capable. However, the instructors proceeded to make me feel like a complete idiot for not understanding concepts that most students learned at the start of middle school that reappears on the ACT. After taking the ACT 2 times before Huntington and 3 times after, my score did not improve what so ever. My family decided that without even finishing the program I could quit attending the tutoring sessions to focus on things that add to a college resume ex. service projects, NHS, National Spanish Honor Society secretary and treasurer, Art Club president, Mu Alpha Theta, etc. Fast-forward to senior year, I applied to 7 schools in Southern California and got into 6/7 of the colleges. Additionally, I have been recognized nationally as a content creator and even been featured on the news for my accomplishments. The moral of the story is, do not let an ACT score or ACT tutoring facility define your worth because plenty of colleges are test-optional and you can check out Fairtest.org, which the Huntington workers did not even think to tell my family about. In conclusion, thankfully colleges are turning away from standardized tests and realizing that it does not truly offer a glimpse at a student because a student could have a 4.0 GPA with a 24 ACT or a 3.25 GPA with a 30. It all depends on the person.

I've loved working with Huntington!! Overall, the personalized plan was extremely helpful on focusing on what I needed help with most. Blake did a fantastic job helping me come up with a study plan and researching more about my college choices and their requirements for admission.

Definitely do not recommend it, waste of time and effort and money. Didn’t help me one bit on my ACT. Go somewhere else if you are looking for help on act. The teachers are terrible.
