Dr's are great support staff is great but the parking sucks!!! Fix the parking lot at the WH building. Either repave and restripe to make bigger parking spaces or build a parking garage. Terrible

Markey supposedly works with KDMC in Ashland Ky. Ive never seen them or seen any signs of their presence. Ive asked about them possibly looking at my case and was told I was free to go get a second opinion. The Advertisements lead to believe its a cooperative. No signs of that. So exactly what is UKs and Markeys role at KDMC? Surely doesnt seem to be patient care.

They missed cancer in my back they had biopsy material to do genetic blood makers lost the sample and test was never preformed. The 11th floor bruised my arms poked through my veins horrible experience

In 2018, I would have given UK Markey 5 stars. I had tx for pancreatic cancer back then. They saved my life.
In 2023, it's so overcrowded with cancer patients that they can't accommodate everyone. I have MDS (it's like leukemia) and I have to be in the clinic no less than twice a week. You can't find a place to park that's a reasonable distance to walk when you have cancer. Sometimes I'm forced to park at the KY Clinic garage and I have to walk over, often times having to take breaks on the short walk because when I'm severely anemic, mobility is a challenge. I keep getting told there's a shuttle for all my needs but they don't say how to find or call a shuttle. It should just be there, but it's not.
There's no self-operable wheelchairs available in these parking areas for those of us who don't have someone to help us get to frequent appointments. The only ones they have are ones that require another person to push you. I don't need a wheelchair all the time, only when my anemia is severe. They make me wait until it's severe to get blood, so they actively push me into this Catch 22 situation.
UK Markey has way more patients than it can deal with and that's why things are so bad there now. The oncologists are still great and the care is great, but what good is it when you can't even get in the door? What good is it when you need a blood transfusion but there's no transfusion chairs available? And why, after knowing just how overcroweded it is, does UK Markey still close on the weekends and holidays knowing they must accommodate so many of us? They aren't able to keep up with the demand.
So, if you need frequent treatments like chemotherapy or other types of infusions, I'd recommended going to Baptist Health Cancer Center for that. They have valet parking and they seem to be able to accommodate their patients. I transferred from Baptist to Markey just based on the NCI-designation but I regret that decision and I wish I could go back to Baptist because at least I can get through the door there. I don't want to leave my oncologist at Markey because he's really good but the overcrowding is a huge problem and it's forcing me to reconsider where I receive care, right in the middle of me getting chemo and being blood-transfusion dependent. I cannot handle anymore extraneous stress, and Markey continues to find new ways to stress me out.
