image I wouldn’t even insure a cockroach with Cigna!! I am out almost $29,000 due to services which Cigna refuses to cover, which they contend is not used to treat an underlying condition. Cigna is maintaining the position that a complex surgery which I had to repair injured tendons wasn’t “medically necessary”, nor was it preauthorized in advance by them. Three separate doctors submitted all the necessary documentation which Cigna would need to cover this procedure, however Cigna dragged their feet for over 9 months trying to find every possible loophole they could use in order to avoid covering this “medically necessary” procedure!! First off, they claimed that physical therapy would be sufficient in treating my injured tendons – which I had already tried with little success for over two and a half years! Next, Cigna tried saying that all I needed was a cheap $80 massager (the kind you buy someone as a novelty gift and NOT the kind used to treat complex medical injuries). They claimed that this message device would alleviate a lot of the pain which I was experiencing, and that the surgery wouldn’t really be necessary. Obviously needless to say, all of my doctors including my specialists disagreed and said that the surgery would be medically necessary. So after waiting for the almighty deity of medical directors (on Cigna’s payroll) to deny covering this truly “medically necessary” surgery WITH THREE SEPARATE DENIAL DECISIONS, my doctors told me to just go ahead and have the surgery anyways and then hire an attorney to try collecting for damages, which is what I ended up doing. The pain in my arm was beyond excruciating, to the point where I was literally crying in agony because of how bad it hurt. Do you think that this greedy insurance company, Cigna cared one single bit?! Nope, think again! They basically tried using a whole bunch of legal jargon (which my attorney is challenging the validity of that same jargon) to justify their denial decisions. My fingers hurt so much from writing this long review right now, due to the soreness which I still feel in my arm muscles as I type. But that’s okay, if I can prevent just one other human being from having to endure the same agony, pain, and anger which I had to because of Cigna’s greediness, then the short-term pain felt in my hand and arm right now of typing out this long review will definitely all be worth it. There is so much other detail which I could include here in my review of Cigna as an insurance company, but I don’t know what the character maximum allowed will be here in the space provided below. However, let me just conclude by saying: DO NOT EVER SIGN UP FOR HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE THROUGH CIGNA!!! They are an extremely deceptive company who basically uses a lot of cleverly worded (or so they think) bait-and-switch jargon, which they falsely believe entitles them to weasel their way out of covering insurance policies which THEY WRITE RIGHT INTO THEIR OWN CONTRACTS!! I would strongly dissuade and discourage anybody, seeking either individual or even group health insurance coverage, from signing up with Cigna. All this company truly seems to care about is collecting millions of dollars in premiums, yet they take advantage of people who are in really bad desperate need of coverage by refusing to pay out on procedures that are 1) “medically necessary” and 2) contractually obligated in their own insurance contracts. I seriously advise anybody reading this review right now, to seek health insurance coverage elsewhere besides Cigna.

image Yesterday my husband was looking for an emergency room that would take his Cigna insurance. He had 104 degree temperature and was in a lot of pain, so he googled Cigna and went to this office by mistake.
The lady working was incredibly rude to him. She simply said that this was an office. When he asked where he can go instead, she said “I don’t know” and didn’t even try to help. THEN, as my husband is practically dying trying to find a different place to go on his phone, she called security on him!
This woman needs a serious lesson in customer service. One would think that working in the healthcare industry, some general compassion for humanity might be a prerequisite.
We are very disappointed with the level of disrespect and dissonance shown by this lady. We no longer trust this insurance company solely based on her actions yesterday.
To the woman in the office yesterday: It is your job to care. If you don’t know, figure it out. 2 minutes of your time is worth a persons life, I promise.
