My AC broke while it was 100 degrees out, and our maintenance team fixed it in less than 20 minutes. I can't thank you guys enough for ALWAYS being on time, and so nice too!

Es el mejor lugar para vivir, precio ubicacion espacio, el equipo de administracion es Excellente, muy amables sobretodo, Leon el tiene mucha calidad humana, siempre esta listo para resolver cualquier inquietud. Recomiendo ampliamente Allen House. el Edificio es antiguo pero muy bien conservado, los apartamentos son grandes espaciosos.

Allen House is the best place Ive lived in Houston. It is a beautiful place with spacious and well-maintained apartments, a great location, and a great price. The interior garden with its vintage fountains and covered by big trees is an alluring scene to look at every day. The complex is located in Montrose an amazing neighborhood and is next to Buffalo Bayou Park and the Allen Parkway very convenient if you work at Downtown or need to have access to the freeway.
On top of that, they have a helpful, caring, and highly efficient staff. Maintenance requests are attended to immediately and with great attention. I need to give a shoutout to Leon from the leasing staff for his great commitment to the place and the residents. He is a very sweet person.
I end up saying that if I ever come back to Houston, I would highly consider living in Allen House again.

Update after almost a year of living here: the walls are insanely thin. I can hear my neighbors and the people above me playing music constantly and you can even hear conversations if people are talking loud enough. If this isn't a deal breaker for you, that's cool but I feel like I'm living in a frat house with the nonstop heavy bass music. And the water is shutoff for days at a time often. Like a few times a week every month.
I just moved into Allen House a few weeks ago and I will update my review if the situation improves, but so far it hasn't been too great of an experience.
For the pros, the office staff is very friendly and helpful and the maintenance are quick to respond to requests. It's also in a good location, walkable to a lot of food and buffalo bayou park which I really enjoy.
However, my apartment was extremely dirty when I moved in, and it was obvious that no cleaning was done prior to my move in. My toilet was covered in mold, both inside the basin and on the outside and the base. The floors were also disgusting, I wore white socks while unpacking and they were black after a couple hours. I wish I had a day or two to deep clean the place before I had to move all of my stuff in.
I've been dealing with German cockroaches since I've moved in, and put in a maintenance order for pest control but they apparently only come once a week so I bought some bait myself in the mean time. It's a really gross thing to move in to regardless and I'm honestly in disbelief at the kind of living conditions the person here before me lived in.
Oh, and on 2 separate occasions now since I moved in I had things stolen from right outside my door, a table and a patio chair.
The grounds are nice and I like the area so I really wanted to like living here, but I also wanted to give an honest review since I'm the type of person to religiously read reviews before moving somewhere. I really hope the bug situation improves and maybe the complex can improve their cleaning procedures between tenants.

Update: Packages are seemingly brought into the office now so thieves are much less prevalent. They fixed the ceiling fan and the water/AC is finally stable. Everything else still stands. One redeeming quality is the office staff; specifically Leon. They're pretty quick to respond and are pretty nice.
TL;DR: it's gross and generally terrible. I suggest finding somewhere else.
There are package thieves galore, bugs, the A/C has broken at least twice in the 6 months I've been here, the gates are often left open, the water gets so hot it can burn you (it randomly gets hotter too), the floors are sagging, a cieling fan is wobbling and they've done nothing about it after being told, the water is shut off frequently, sewage overflows in the walkway to the parking lot often, they don't care for the building; there was a roof leak that left my closet FULL of mold and it took them almost 2 weeks to fix it. I could go on.
Terrible place: don't live here.
