I ordered window bars for my two back windows and received them about four months ago. They seem to be constructed of square steel bar stock and the weld/paint job seems to be at a good level of craftsmanship. The pictures might show some rather severe scratches near some of the screw holes but that is entirely my own doing (I did a bad job driving some of the security screws), the bars were pretty much immaculate when I received them.
Most notably, shipping costs went way over budget and although I offered to cover some of the overrun, I was refused, and the guy stuck to the original estimated amount. I assume that if you also live in California he will probably charge you more because of that, but you will also most likely not wind up paying more than the quoted amount.
I paid a pretty high price compared to other options (probably three or four times the cost of aluminum bars from home depot if you include shipping). However, the bars were made out of steel (A-36 steel I was told) to my requested dimensions and as a result they line up with the studs in the wall which overall I think makes the setup much stronger.
What I got was within a quarter inch of requested on outside dimensions, and the screw holes were better. I requested 34" between screw holes, and I went out and took a picture of that (I was balancing on one leg to hold everything, so I think the measurement is within the margin of error). I also included some closer pictures of the welds.
Some security screws sized to the screw holes were also thrown in, which was quite convenient.
Overall this seems to me to be a really strong setup and I got exactly what I asked for, so I am quite satisfied. As a token of appreciation for the shipping cost thing I have taken the time put together a relatively detailed review (although it took me a while to actually do so).

Contacted them about an estimate, response was untimely, rep was forgetful, and then nothing was done. Red flags for me.
Update: the owner’s response was childish. Is there a way to post the screenshot on here? He pretty much called me whiner

I can’t say enough good things. Victor was very professional, punctual, and super polite. I wanted the “window pane” style bars. He made them all symmetrical even though the windows are different sizes. It’s looks super clean and professional.

I would like to give Samson Steele Burglar Bars a 5* review for the burglar bars he just installed in my house and for the door enclosures. I was hesitant to install anything in my house with fear of messing the aesthetics of the inside of my home. Victor came to give me a quote on a weekend and gave us a price we could not resist. I also expressed my concern about wanting a more custom design to which he assured me he would work with me to find a design I would love. When the enclosures for the doors came, my whole family was so amazed of the clean and professional work Victor the owner does. The enclosures arrived at my house in a pristine condition, nicely painted and wrapped in plastic for protection. The enclosures of my doors are so well made and strong but beautiful looking, we have received so many complements on them. The 2nd work he did are the horizontal burglar bars on all our windows and I am beyond happy with his work again, I cannot even tell we have security bars the way they are made and installed it creates the illusion there is nothing there blocking our view. Victor deliver on a very timely manner and stayed in communication the entire process. When everything was done he went back and asked me if there was anything I did not like and he immediately offered me options and then he again made the changes I requested and finally we are beyond happy the whole process and the final product. Thank you Victor for your fantastic craftsmanship and professional work!!!

Polite, Prompt and Professional! Drove out on a weekend and made the measurements, gave a great price, and was back to complete the job within 3 weeks. EXCELLENT work. NO high pressure to buy more than we needed. Very pleased with the service. Thanks
