Dr Tarnow has been my son's psychologist for 4-5 years now. After going to many other psychologists before Dr Tarnow, I can tell you that he is WORLDS APART form the majority. He is very hands on and spends the time required, asking questions & interacting in order to diagnose & treat serious, complex mental health issues. He is not only about prescribing medications (as the majority of other doctors we've seen would do) but he has so many other "tools in his toolbox" (therapy, QEEG, Genetic Pharmacology tests, referrals, etc). Dr Tarnow with also work with other doctors & therapists involved to ensure that everyone is informed and included in the treatment plan.
The ONLY downside I have to offer is that he does not take our insurance---so it is cash pay at time of service. However, I believe that every penny we've spent was well worth it to have my son stable.....finally! I have referred several people to Dr Tarnow with zero reservations.

My son has been a patient of the Tarnow Center and has been treated by Dr. Tarnow other clinicians and since age 6. He completed 2 semesters of college but is close to flunking out and adrift as to purpose, interests and motivation. So, arriving for today's appointment, I anticipated some tough love from Jay about his academic goals.
What I wasn't expecting was to be told that his self-management issues were our fault. So, just telling you: if after years of therapy, medication and 'working memory' sessions your child still has self-management problems, be prepared to be told it's your fault.
