image EDIT: I am writing this edit on behalf of my aunt and uncle who were recently at the downtown gallery. I recommended the gallery to them because of the manager who'd helped me before. They've informed me that she's no longer with the gallery and that there's an older woman in her place. I think they said her name is Diane or Diana and that she made them incredibly uncomfortable and doesn't seem to know much about their own merchandise.
They said to clarify that's she's not, by any means, rude. They did say that she was discussing her personal life with them in-depth and they're just not comfortable with that. They said she went on, at length, about her troubled marriage and losing her child. While they did feel sorry for her, they felt that it was incredibly inappropriate.
My uncle went on to say that she was a bit overbearing and kept trying to bring their attention elsewhere, to things that they simply weren't interested in.
So that explains the change in my review, however I stand by my original review because the woman I worked with was exceptionally helpful. I'm only sorry that my aunt and uncle never got to meet her.
[ORIGNAL REVIEW]
I'd been to their previous location (with the McCully Chop Suey sign) and it was huge inside, but there was a guy who worked there who'd been kind of rude to me. I actually didn't know that they had re-branded and moved downtown, but I was wandering after a meeting with clients and saw the sign for "Mark Blackburn."
It's MUCH smaller inside but not at all bad. Obviously they can't display as much stuff, but they do display some really unique items. I was just there two days ago and they have a new manager who's SUPER helpful. Even though she was in a wheelchair, she still went looking for stuff for me-- and no, I didn't make her do it and I did offer to help.
Anyway, she let me loiter a bit while I was waiting on a text back about what to buy. She even lined up these figurines for me to photograph and send a friend. Said friend ended up not texting back, but the manager (her name is Sha) gave me her card and we exchanged contact info. She's basically helping me as a personal shopper for my friend's birthday and also for a client's photo shoot coming up.
This is a long review, I know, but I'm really happy with the service I got there and I even told the manager that I was going to leave a review.
PS I did end up buying a book for myself before leaving and she even gave me discounted price!
