image Wonderful experience with their beach yoga class while on vacation in Galveston! I had never done yoga on the beach before and wow, it was awesome! The class was not too hard or too easy, just what I look for especially in an early morning class. The instructor was so welcoming and friendly. There were definitely some regulars there but I never once felt like an outsider. I wish I lived there so I could take more of their classes!

image Not a positive experience for me -
I practiced at this studio briefly before COVID hit. I had been practicing Vinyasa and wanted something more slow and contemplative. Saw Kathleen's studio and thought I had lucked out.
I have only practiced Yoga for about 20 years and so I am by no means an expert, but I'm confident enough to say that while I think you can get a good class covering the technical aspects of the movements, I found, in my interactions with the owner, some of the more philosophical aspects of Yoga to be missing.
I had just purchased a 10-class pass when COVID decided to pay us a visit. I tried an online class and fount it was not for me. A virtual class is no substitute for an in-class experience and should not be treated as such. I contacted Kathleen and asked that my account be placed on hold for the duration of the lock-down since otherwise a class-pass will expire after a certain amount of time.
She said ok so I thought all was good until a couple of weeks ago I when I found out in-person classes had resumed. I asked her to reinstate my account but she said that she "felt" that I should have to repurchase all my classes since so much time had passed. When I reminded her of our previous agreement she moved on to saying she would give me half my classes back and I would have to pay for the other half. When I reminded her again of our agreement, she said ok but a day or two later sent an email saying she thought it best if I found somewhere else to practice but would refund the amount she owed me.
I asked when a good time to pick up a check and she said that she would call the police if I came to her "place of business."
So in all it seemed she was more interested in telling me how she "felt" but was never interested in my view. She was quick to mention the costs associated with keeping a business open but was not interested in the costs of paying for a membership that would magically expire despite a pre-agreement as a student.
The pros of the studio:
1) located in a charming part of town. The space is ok inside and the props are high quality.
2) Kathleen had some nice tricks in terms of how to use the props to deepen some of the poses I had never seen before.
Cons:
Other than the glaring one above, I found the Yin class to be very repetitive. Always the same sliding the foot on the floor as a hip-opening.
TLDR:
If you are going to pay for class here, make sure you buy only 1 class at a time instead of paying a little less for the class pass. It might save you a lot of trouble.
Good luck!
