image Avoid at all costs! I wasn't there when the tech first showed up but my employee was and he told her it would cost $450 to replace some parts (could of bought a whole new toilet for that price). So he changed some parts then I showed up right when he finished. So I paid him, despite the outrageous price. The next day the same problem was still occurring. They came back out for free but in the end all that was needed was a new flapper to stop it from constantly running water which should be $100 job? I know inflation is real, especially in CA, but It feels like I was ripped off

image I was told by another plumbing company that I had two problems: 1. with my under the house pipes and 2. with the sewer line from the house to the city sewer line in the alley. Their cost would have been about $35,000. I called Vets 4 You to get a second opinion. Their rep came out with another guy who re-scoped the sewer line. I told the rep that I want the pipes replaced under the house and the sewer line repaired. That I had an insurance policy with SLWA Insurance Services to cover the sewer repair. (Another story.) Also the bathroom sink replaced along with three faucets. I was told that the cost could be about $20,000.
I initiated the loan through them for $20,000. This was done in early September. On 15 Sep 23, Keith, a Midwesterner vet and co-owner, came to tell me that the cost would be an additional $25,000 for a total of $45,000. This was more than 3 business days after I signed the first contract. I expressed doubts but said OK. My error.
I had gone out and purchased a new bathroom sink and new faucet on the advice and measurements of the rep. Also new faucets for the kitchen sink and garage sink. They agreed to install everything while I was out of the country.
When I returned, I found the bathroom cabinet had been pulled away from the wall about two inches and unsecured with the new sink. I would have thought that when they found the new sink not suitable to the cabinet, the techs would have called the job supervisor and stopped with the installation. Keith came out once to look for a solution, said that he or someone would be out to help return the sink and get a proper size sink and re-secure the cabinet to the wall. Never happened.
What happened was Robbie came out and secured the cabinet with a couple planks and caulk but leaving the 2 inch distance from the wall on the side and inside bottom. Keith suggested putting up some waist coating. I agreed since their drywallers would not make the cabinet right. I got a neighbor to repair the sides with some planking I had in the garage.
I got the bill for the sewer job for $24,237.90. Which is less by $762.10 from the $25,000 loan I took out and still must pay on top of the original $20,000 loan for a total of $45,000.
There was a leak in the kitchen from the garbage disposal and CJ was sent to fix it. Vets 4 You wanted a certain amount of money as a down payment before doing the job. I said that they still had $762.10 of my money. Why do I have to pay even more?
Also CJ and I talked about the incomplete job that was to have done in the garage so the drywallers could finish and not have to turn the water off to the whole house. CJ immediately realized what had to be done and called the shop to have the pipe parts ordered. CJ ended up spending 20 minutes at Home Depot searching for the parts which he installed after installing a new disposal I had bought.
Keith had come by around this time and I showed him that there was a $762.10 discrepancy from their bill and loan I have to pay. "Oh." was the response. Repeated near daily texts to him has not solved the problem.
I am not saying there was a deliberate bait and switch between the first rep and Keith but to make a $25,000 addition to the total cost means that the rep was not qualified to make the first estimate.
I should have ended the projected and gone with the first company.
