image I worked at this clinic for 4 months as a family nurse practitioner and it was absolutely the most unprofessional experience of my career. The human resource department is nonexistent with answers in regards to signing documents that are invasive. Also during a work meeting with staff present a rumor was brought up in regards to me having an affair with a coworker, completely untrue and very unprofessional on the part of the council leading the meeting. I was harrassed over not seeing patients with covid symptoms in the clinic repeatedly. I followed CDC and IHS guidelines in regards to this pandemic and was still continuously harrassed to practice unsafely by the current chairwoman. 3 months into working I was given documents to sign that involved me not being protected by HIPAA and volunteering my personal health information. During the time of being there I never called in sick until I was given a reprimand letter full of lies that physically made me nauseous. Also I was given a document to sign that did not recognize Covid-19 testing or seeing patients face to face as hazardous during this pandemic when most clinics were using telemed. I was accused in a reprimand letter of not seeing patients after 3pm and not wanting to see patients, which were all lies. I chose to not have patients with multiple covid symptoms in the office, which would jeopardize patients and staff. Also the recruiter was informed that they had a medical assistant /med tech working at the clinic to assist me before I arrived, only to find out the assistant had neither certification and was not trained to perform as an assistant which jeopardized me working as a healthcare professional in providing safe patient care. I asked why she wasn't trained and the assistant stated she asked multiple times, but they will not send her to be certified. I suggested to the chairwoman to find an MA or RN to provide care to the patients and it was never given a second thought, even after having my immediate supervisor recommend this to the chairwoman for safety of the patients. I was constantly doing my job and the "assistant's" job when she would not be present for work, which also was reported to the chairwoman. This assistant had been giving patients injections incorrectly for who knows how long due to lack of training. During this time I tried my best to teach her properly as her placement was allowed without being certified. The supervisor tried very hard to work with me in regards to making the clinic better, but too many times had his back to a wall with management. I helped the supervising pharmacist come up with a plan for covid-19 testing and still possess the documents, but was still informed I did not and needed to help him. My perfomance review was 100% positive by the immediate supervisor, but I still was accused by council of rumors and lies. My supervisor asked Diana Buckner to discuss documents with him present to understand better the documents they wanted signed, which she rejected and told me to meet before the council that all signed an untrue reprimand letter. There is not one person on council that I am aware of that has a clinical background and I am not a shoshone tribal member that should have to go before native council, but a clinical nurse practitioner. The chairwoman sent me a letter via the supervisor that I was terminated and to pay back a $5,000 bonus for coming to work there. The amount of money I lost trying to do what was right coming to the shoshone tribe in Ely cost me much much more than that. There are people in positions of healthcare with no credentials and no physician overseeing the clinic in a director's position, which is not healthy for any clinic. I really hope this clinic gets it together for the good of the shoshone people. This clinic has cost me alot financially, emotionally and physically due to extreme unprofessionalism and poor leadership.
The hardest part is that I turned down a 2 year high paying position in Hawaii to try and help this clinic and am now unemployed during this pandemic.
