Unhappy Customer.

We needed soil for raised flower beds. We were told from Aubrey Leakes at Leakes Excavating that we would get "really good" topsoil. When it was delivered it was damp, so was brown, with no rocks or gravel. It looked ok. But then we were chared $30 more than what we were quoted over the phone. Which if it was "really good" topsoil, it wouldn't have bothered us as much. However; after it dried we found it to be nothing but clay and silt and full of reeds and other roots and stalks from pond plants. It does not make good top soil or fill dirt. It does not drain, it holds water and just washes out even on flat ground, then turns into cement when dry and then cracks and peels even. After calling we were told we would get a call back. We did not. After asking around we found it has indeed been coming from the bottom of a pond. Yes, Aubrey Leake has been in business a long time. We beleive he knows what he he is doing. He over charged for clay and silt and called it really good top soil. Obviously the length of time someone is in business has nothing to do with the quality of business or honesty of that individual at any given time. So we are letting everyone know. Be for-warned, order from Leakes Excavation only if you want a large pile of clay and silt. This from a very unhappy customer.
