Penske Truck Rental

When I approached the young man at the store about my rental he informed me that he had already checked over the vehicle and car carrier that I was to be renting and he had noted the damage on the paperwork that he wanted me to just sign.  We were picking this up in the pouring rain and I don't think that he wanted to go back outside with us to check on the truck & car carrier. Needless to say that when we got back to the truck and car carrier we started our rental out with a flat tire on the car carrier, we were then told that we could just take it up to the gas station to fill it up ourselves.  This location does not have any means to do simple maintenance on their equipment.  He did offer to call a repair man for us which would take anywhere starting at 2 hours and up (no time could be guaranteed).  The store was closing in 45 minutes so we would have had to sit outside in the dark waiting for them to show up or we could simply come back another day...Let me add that we had already driven 1 1/2 hours to get to this location because when I made the reservation they promised me a truck and then called later to tell me they were out of them and could on honor the "guaranteed reservation".  Then to make matters worse upon inspection of the inside of the 16' box truck, it must have been sitting for a while because it had a large amount of mouse droppings (enough to cover about 3') so we had to clean it out before the movers could load us.  The windshield was also cracked and it had a big chip out of it.  None of this was noted on the paperwork that he wanted me to just sign.  We also needed to keep filling up the leaky tire for our 3 day trip.  We were not compensated for any of this either.  Needless to say this was not a good rental experience.

I found myself in need of a large truck to move some household goods across the country. I'm not a U-Haul fan, and thankfully there was a Penske truck rental outfit in Corinth.  The offices are inside the Mattress Gallery on Highway 72, right next to the White Trolley.Because of a series of winter storms rolling through I had to reschedule the truck pickup several times. The folks at Penske were very accommodating and helpful. When the weather passed and I went to pick up the truck, everything was ready to roll. The paperwork was a piece of cake, they had everything we ordered (heavy duty furniture dolly and pads), including a car dolly.  All the equipment was spotless and everything was in full working order.  They were also kind enough to help organize a few fellows to help with the heavy lifting. Bobby White and his crew were great. They met me at the storage facility and loaded everything in the truck with great care. Everything was so well packed, everything made the 2,000 mile trip to the other side of the country without any issues whatsoever.  The only negative I can say is that the driveway into the parking lot is a bit on the steep side. You really have to take the driveway at an angle or you'll drag bottom going in and out.  I scraped the rear bumper of my car as I pulled out of the parking lot. This is clearly not a critisim aimed at the company, but something to keep in mind.  Overall, great service!
