image We extend our deepest gratitude to Marcus, Danielle and staff for the heartfelt understanding and patience assisting us with my father in law's memorial service. Somethings were challenging to handle from another state but the services from Hathorn Funeral Home were exceptional. Sincerely from : The Rayburn, Dees and Moorhead family.

image My dad's funeral was here Saturday October 18th, and i was very pleased with the heart and soul put into seeing my father to his eternal place. Very professional and compassionate. I was very happy with the service that was provided.

image Well the man that handled our arrangements, can't remember his name, but he was tall and I believe was a pastor at the church across the highway. Although any of us, the children, could have paid for the service immediately, the man overheard us discussing the insurance policy set to arrive the day after the funeral so he interjected in our conversation and said it would be fine to pay then, no big deal as any of us could have paid right then and there, but still it was a nice gesture, although he did eavesdrop on a private discussion between my siblings and I. Well the night of the wake the same man pulled my sister aside to privately let her know that they really needed us to go ahead and pay for everything right then, my sister didn't come prepared so he took her in a side office and she spread the costs across three credit cards she had on her as opposed to one check or cash my brother or I could have given him the day the arrangements were made. She was very upset to begin with and this was an unnecessary addition to the stress she was already going through. I can only assume he singled her out as he knew my brother or I would have been more angry since it was his idea to begin with to wait for the insurance check to arrive in two more days, especially considering he only gained the information by listening in on our private conversation. Well after the service was over and we went outside and loaded my father into the hearse there was a van parked perpendicular to the hearse and the young man in the drivers seat was propped up with his feet on the dash wearing shorts and a tshirt, so as we stood there waiting for everyone to get in their cars the man in the van proceeded to go inside and brought the floral arrangements out and tossed one after another on top of each other in the back of the van, so needless to say when we saw them again at the cemetery the arrangements were obviously smashed and broken and on the bill we were charged $300 for this service which was a 20 mile round trip. The bill also included a $35 charge for a sheriff deputy escort that never came and when I asked about reimbursement I was told it was just included in the package and it's not really charged for separatey, although on the itemized bill it and many other charges were listed separately. All in all it just wasn't a good experience and was very unprofessional. Let me add these issues are not embellished in any way and when my mother passed a few years later we chose a different funeral home in town and had not one complaint. All of these issues could have been easily corrected in my opinion by just having a staff that was in better tune with proper procedure and a better understanding of the state of mind of its customers. Everyone has to make their own decisions on choosing a funeral home but I cannot see recommending them to anyone.
