I recently visited Ruby of Siam for a meal, opting for their Pad Thai and a Thai Tea. Despite the restaurant not being busy, with the staff managing only a few to-go orders, my experience was less than satisfactory. The Pad Thai presented was notably bland, lacking in the essential tamarind flavor and, contradictorily, overloaded with sugar. Seeking to add some spice to the dish, I requested powdered chili. However, when I politely asked for the complete set of condiments, the response from one of the staff members was unexpectedly rude. Her demeanor changed significantly, and she even whispered in Thai under her breath, despite no one else being in the restaurant. It was perplexing and disappointing to encounter such an attitude as a paying customer. Based on this experience, I am compelled to say that this was the worst Thai food Ive ever had, and I have no intentions of returning.

Hello Kato. We truly apologize for your experience. We know customer service is the cornerstone of a good business and we are sincere that our waitress should not of treated you in anyway that would make you feel uncomfortable or unwanted. We actually know exactly who you are talking about. What we can say is that she is a career waitress who has some behavior issues. We have already discussed her behavior to her and how she treated you was unacceptable. About the food. We have been in America for about 40 years now in business. We have been around that long because of our traditional food. I can see you understand Thai cuisine with the Tamarind, but did you know that tamarind (being not native to America) causes stomach issues in some people who consume it? We had to remove the tamarind from our Pad Thai early on because of this fact. This restaurant is a true mom & pop and our Chefs are all Thai immigrants. We normally hit the mark, but sometimes our Chefs make mistakes. We encourage all our customers to tell us right away if something doesn't taste right so we can fix it. I know you wont try us again, but we would like to explain ourselves. This day in age times our tough. We ask for your forgiveness and for your understanding. If we have wronged you we apologize again. Have a great day.

I recently dined at Ruby of Siam, excited to experience their Thai cuisine, but left disappointed. The sardines salad, which I anticipated to be an authentic Thai style dish, turned out to be ordinary canned sardines, lacking the freshness and flavor I was looking forward to. Additionally, the satay skewers were tough to chew, not meeting the expectations of their normally tender and flavorful reputation. To add to the disappointment, a simple dish for my little nephew, scrambled eggs, was served burnt. This experience was far from what I hoped for from a restaurant that claims to offer authentic Thai cuisine.

Hello Gerald. We want to clarify a few things. Sardines normally come from a can. These are specifically Thai canned Sardines that are the same ones used in Thailand for these dishes. It would be hard pressed to find “fresh” sardines in Illinois. The Satay can come out that way when it’s overly cooked, we did not know you didn’t like it until after you had finished the satay. The same goes for the eggs. We did not see the burnt part and we even took it off your bill. We made those special for you since we don’t sell eggs normally separately. Our restaurant has been around for 40 years. Countless people have enjoyed our authentic food. We personally talked to you to ask for your forgiveness regarding your eggs and you personally assured us there was no problem and you wouldn’t hold it against us. By writing this 1 star review nearly 2 weeks later after stating you were not upset makes me question your motive. Why are you doing this? Are you angry at us? Did we offend you? Why have you not tried to talk to us?We are a mom and pop who have been serving this community for over 40 years. Why do you want to hurt our business? I ask you to ask yourself these questions. I ask you to forgive us.
