image Carolina Mortuary Service is the best place to take care of your loved one. I'm in Ohio and she lived down there and they have been so kind and helpful. They are patient and don't rush you off the phone. Of all the places I called and it was so so many they are by far the most caring. I would definitely recommend!

image In response to the business owner:
As a business owner, it's important to maintain professionalism and separate personal and business communications. If you don't want calls to your personal cell, refrain from sharing that information and utilize a designated business phone.
After reading another review, it seems that initially, this owner is very informative and helpful. However, once funds are received and further questions arise, such as in my case, seeking information on my dads death certificate after two weeks without any updates, their level of helpfulness diminishes. Instead of a simple apology and a request to call back during regular business hours, I encountered a rude and combative business owner angrily informing me that it was after hours and I shouldn't be calling him at home, despite initially providing his cell phone number with instructions to contact him for assistance.
While I typically refrain from writing negative reviews, as I understand everyone has bad days, I believe in second chances and addressing grievances privately. However, this business owner's rude and combative behavior makes professional conversation impossible. It's clear he doesn't prioritize excellent customer service or respect for his customers. Sadly, in my time of grieving the loss of my father, who was incredibly important to me, I had to endure this unnecessary stress. I wouldn't want anyone else to experience what I went through tonight with this owner, especially during such a difficult time when we're already dealing with so much.
While I lack experience in this particular line of business, having never had to bury anyone myself, I find it difficult to believe that all mortuaries offer such poor customer service. I suggest finding another mortuary, even if it's corporate as mentioned in his previous response, to ensure better treatment and support during such a sensitive time.

image I am deeply disappointed with my experience with Carolina Mortuary Service and Cremation. My father, a Vietnam Veteran, passed away after a prolonged illness during his visit to me over the holidays. As he was away from home, I had to make arrangements with a local funeral home to have his body sent back to Kentucky. Wanting the best for my beloved father, I chose Carolina Mortuary Service based on their owner, Fred, who seemed compassionate and helpful during our initial phone conversation.
However, the professionalism I experienced during our first contact quickly dissipated. While Ben at the funeral home was VERY helpful, there was miscommunication regarding my father's Death Certificate, and required a follow-up call.
The real disappointment came when I tried to follow up on the matter. On my mother's birthday, a particularly emotional day without my father after 50 years of marriage, I called Fred's personal cell phone, as he had previously encouraged, to inquire about the Death Certificates. Instead of understanding my situation, Fred rudely raised his voice, berating me for calling him after hours and insisting that I contact the office during business hours, which had already closed.
The lack of empathy and professionalism displayed by Fred is unacceptable, especially when dealing with grieving families. I urge anyone in need of funeral services in the Charlotte, NC area to steer clear of Carolina Mortuary Service and Cremation. If the owner cannot demonstrate basic courtesy and respect to customers, I fear they will not provide the care and compassion our loved ones deserve in their final moments.

Business Response on Google Jan 20th, 2024
When you call a person at home on their private cell phone at 7pm, do you expect them to answer business questions that someone else handles in your office. I would expect anyone would understand that we try to have business handled during business hours. We respond to death calls 24 hors a day, or generic questions 24 hours a day. When someone has been deceased for approximately 2 weeks and you call at night while I am at home where I have no records, I cannot answer your questions truthfully with out your father's case file which is kept securely at the office. I am sorry that I offended you but can you call your banker, doctor after hours on their cell phone and find out what your intrest rates are, or the doctor and ask about your RBC.Your expectations are to high to please so again I apologize for the way I responded to you from my house at 7pm at night, but hopefully you can find someone else the next time you want your loved one taken care of as professionally and economically as we did. Call a corporate funeral home next time and they will give you alot to complain about.Sincerely Fred E Handsel Owner of Carolina Mortuary Service and Cremation
