Yesterday from 10:50pm-12:15am, a student was stuck shut in the elevator. The residents have been complaining about this elevator for about a year now, but it has gotten really bad in the past few months. The door wont close unless you hard reset the elevator, causing the alarm to ring. The elevator rarely ever says the right floor you are on, and it hasnt opened to the basement floor recently. There was also a period of time where it would simply go to different floors instead of the floors you clicked on. It also feels generally unstable and will shake if you move sporadically.
Besides the elevator, the dining situation is fairly unreasonable as well. They served rotten food occasionally (although relatively rare, it shouldnt be something that has happened 2-3 times in the past semester). On top of this, their hours for dining are short (dinner ends at 7, and they dont serve dinner on sundays). While this in itself is definitely not an issue, it is definitely something to think about before deciding to live here.
There are some basic needs that constantly do not get met. There was a solid few months where the wifi would randomly stop working during the day (when people are in class and taking exams) and heating and ac wouldnt be provided when needed to.
The RAs and a few staff members are basically the only people responsible for things here. They work extremely hard to keep this place running, but it is so clear they need more help from upper management that they simply arent getting.
If you are considering to live here, I urge you to please READ THE RECENT REVIEWS. Im sure Hendrick House may have been a great place to live in the past, but it certainly was not at all worth the price this year. Also, it would not be in good faith if I did not give credit to other areas of Hendrick House. Rooms are spacious compared to other dorms, we used to get cleaning twice a week, and the closets are spacious as well. They have well kept amenities such as the pool table and lounge. Its also important to note that they have claimed that they will be rebuilding the elevator that is causing all these issues by next year.
