Spent a lot of time comparing companies, and after talking to Robert we decided to go with Farmers. Unfortunately, he forgot that Colorado has mountains and there is a fire hazard associated with it. But he assured us he was familiar with the area and there wouldn't be a problem. After going through all the work of setting up an account and transferring our auto insurance from Geico, which was also cheaper, we received a letter stating our homeowners insurance was going to be terminated because we live in a fire area. They told us that it had nothing to do with the house or surrounding area, but that the underwriter needed to know the response time of the fire department. Well, after providing this information, even the number to the local fire department, it was followed by another letter stating why they would still not insure us for a reason that had nothing to do with the fire department!!! We were offered a quote from one of their other hazard insurance companies, but it was double the price. I don't think this company has a clue, and if you live in the mountains, you might want to look for another company!
