Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

I graduated from the UW with a BSCE degree '86 and now my daughter has MSCE degree '24. I have thrived in my career and my daughter will soon begin her career with a leading consulting firm. My opinion is that the UW has continued to provide a quality education and prepares you well for a career in this chosen field.

Program is only as good as the academic advisers

to prospective graduate students: don't go here unless you have to - department is desperate for people to come here and advising is a joke. funny thing is if the department just fired all of the advising staff, nothing will change because that is all they do - nothing. better off dealing with issues yourself because their answer is always " i don't know"

Advisers are unhelpful and condescending and quality of instruction is extremely poor with most classes not being taught by a professor. I expected more from a program that is supposedly "revered" by companies in the Puget Sound area
