My Mother was taken to NW Hospital ER approx 12:20 am for chest pain. She has had chronic chest pain for yrs. All that can be done is meds and comfort.
Dr. SANTIAGO was attending ER physican. When I got there approx 12:30 , Mom was having chest pain. She was given morphine. Pain didn't go away. I asked for nitro, 45 minutes later, the nurse came back with mallox for gas. "The doctor thinks it's just gas"....What? A woman with heart issues since early 80's, doesn't know what's wrong with her body? Are you kidding me!! I was trying to prevent a replay from Dec. 30th, 2018, and im the idiot!!?? My Mom and I both knew it wasn't gas! Doctors are not gods, they are normal people who make many mistakes!! I know way more abot my Mom than they do in 10 minutes. SMDH!
I walked out to keep my cool and keep from being escorted out at 2:30 am.
Told the nurse to have doc call me, he did not call to even let me know she was being admitted... At
8:30 am I get a call from a Cardiologist, she had a heart attack and did more damage. She had one December 30, th approx 10pm after being admitted. They screwed around so long worrying about protocol, 25 minutes before she got a nitro, she had had a heart attack. Two in less than 30 days, same hospital. NEVER AGAIN!!
You treat chest pain with nitro, ask questions later!!!
That's like telling a diabetic to eat, and not give them insulin!
Im in shock about this replay, do they not read chart notes?
Do they not read what her own cardiologist wrote just weeks before.?
The attending hospital physician, just weeks before wrote,
Give nitro first
Check blood pressure
Acess patient.
JUST GIVE THE NITRO!!!
I am beyond anger and frustration.
I also told the nurse if she was going to be admitted, transfer her
