Dr. Tarr couldnt be a more perfect dentist and person. If you are a dental phobe, go no further. Hes gentle, empathetic, understanding and very knowledgeable. Ive been going to him for over 10 yrs, given him many referrals and none of us have any complaints with this man. If you have a particular fear and express that to him he finds a way to accommodate that. The work he has done has been necessary and never failed. He is fair in his pricing and good at letting you know about possible future work down the road so you can plan ahead. I trust him completely.

Dr. Tarr has been my dentist now for at least 6 years, and is one of the most qualified, skilled, and personable dentists I have had the good fortune to be a patient of. He and his staff are excellent; they have always been amazingly accommodating, friendly, well trained and professional. Today, for instance, I experienced a dental emergency -- I contacted Dr. Tarr and he responded immediately, letting me know that I could meet him in the office in an hour and he would take care of the issue. And this is Memorial Day weekend! He actually arrived early, prepped and took care of my issue in less than an hour. This is not the first time that he has gone out of his way for me. I recommend him to my friends, and it was a dear friend who recommended Dr. Tarr to me. I worked for the Washington State Dental Association for nearly 18 years, I met scores of dentists in that time, and Dr. Tarr is one of the best I have ever had met. I can't recommend him highly enough!

Dr. Tarr refused care for a cavity filling to my 15yo daughter with only two weeks notice, an ethical violation and a violation of WA state statutes as well as ADA standards. Dr. Tarr is on his 3rd or 4th choice for career, and visibly rolled his eyes at me when I stated that I do 100% of the unpaid childcare and 100% of the breadwinning for my household (I'm a single parent, and a small business owner). He's of the special milieu of older white professional men who are dying out, thankfully, but still cast their shadow of the fatherly figure for all to cower at... Perhaps this is what one reviewer meant by "dentist's dentist." His care is the same as any other dentist, not in any way special or outstanding - like other dentists, his office is really about the hygienists. Unfortunately, he fired his most capable hygienist - Danielle was amazing! - without notice to this patient. His replacement hygienist twice tried to choke me, intentionally spraying my tonsils with cold water after I requested warm water and then stormed off. This was my last time in his office. Additionally, his receptionist functions as a protector of Dr. Tarr, vs a health care professional, so much so Danielle used to say she would do all the talking because Tami can be "quite rude" in Danielle's words. Dr. Tarr's attorney, John Cornelius Versnel III of Lee Smart, is an embodiment of all you need to know about Dr. Tarr summarized in one perfectly well suited name. Dr. Tarr is a dying breed, as is Versnel, and we can all be grateful. He's the embodiment of a scared, small man who is counting the hours to retirement. Before seeing Dr. Tarr, do a quick LexisNexis search on Mr. Versnel's cases for all you need to know about Dr. Tarr's stance on patient care.
