My partner and I lived here for one year and we had constant problems with management. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. The unit was advertised as high speed internet ready, however, it was not and it took us 6 WEEKS to get internet in our unit. This 6 week delay was a massive extra expense as I work from home and I was forced to pay for a hotspot until we finally found a solution. Management/owner, Camila made this process even harder every step of the way by screaming at one of the technicians we had and refusing to allow them to try some of the options they had to fix the cables. She insisted she had to be present for any work that was done, but never made herself available. She told us she was too busy with her dinner plans and other properties. She eventually allowed xfinity to complete the job, but waiting 6 weeks for internet in an apartment advertised as "high-speed internet ready" is just unacceptable. There were major plumbing issues at least 6 times during the 1 year we were there. Basement units were flooded with sewage and the water was shut off with short notice. During each of these incidents, we were never informed when it was okay to use the water again. Because of the water damage, bad smell, and poor ventilation doors to the building were left wide open and unlocked to the street raising major security concerns. Communication with management overall was terrible. Often questions were ignored or responded to weeks later. There are short term/vacation units in the building which also brought security concerns. Vacationers allowed pets to roam freely throughout the building and pet waste was left on personal property of other tenants. Trash, food waste, and personal items were also left in the lobby after vacationers left. Since there is no on site management, cleaning this mess is left to the full time tenants. Vacationers also left the front door of the building propped open and unlocked. Both front doors of the building were broken. One door remained broken for at least 6 months. We never saw this fixed during our tenancy. The other door was fixed once, then quickly broken again and was still broken when we moved out. The shared laundry machines (1 washer/dryer for the whole building) were broken nearly every month. The unit was tiny, with cheap fixtures, no ventilation in the living space, and thin walls (you will hear every movement your neighbors make). To top it all off, we left the apartment in the same condition we got it in - even patched/painted the few holes we put in the walls for shelving but we were charged nearly $2k in "damages." We tried to fight this, but it would have cost too much time and money. Camila is a seasoned bully and trying to communicate with her will make you question your own sanity. If you do choose to live here, make sure to carefully document absolutely EVERYTHING about the condition of the apartment and DEMAND a walk-through at move-out. Turnover is high at this building and this practice of overcharging for damages is a common tale from other former residents. There are a lot of apartment options on Capitol Hill. It's a great neighborhood. Give yourself some peace of mind and pick somewhere else to live. I wish we had!
