I lived in the Village manor apartments for a year from 2020-2021. Maintenance was always fast and friendly. The reason for the 2 star rating is because my roommate and i had really bad allergies the whole time we lived there. We never found actual mold probably cause the walls are covered in 100 layers of paint but i had a sore throat and issues breathing every single day that i lived there. The walls constantly collected moisture and would actually drip at times. When we first moved it there was a really bad bug issue. Management sent out insect control who ripped out a shelf in the kitchen that exposed a gaping hole in the foundation. Essentially bugs had direct access from the ground right into my unit. After the bugs went away we contacted the city to see the building inspection which is public record only to find out that there was a massive hole in the foundation right under my roommates bedroom. The floors in the entire unit all sloped down towards the center of the hole too. Our kitchen floor was literally slanted uphill. Our unit was also super cold in the winter because our front door didnt fit the frame due to the walls moving towards the foundation hole. So there was a massive gap between the door and frame. Our electric bill was tripled during the winter. Also because the walls are cinderblocks the wifi couldnt reach the back bedroom. All that being said, the area was safe and quiet so thats a plus. Parking was cheap for seattle prices.

We loved living here! The previous onsite manager wasnt the best but once Ryan took over, the prorperty turned around. Trash from the hallways was removed. The laudnry room started to be cleaned regualry. Emails and quesitosn were answered quickly. We were sad that we had to leave.

Be careful with this place! I had okay experience living here for 3.5 years (was only sleeping there after all), but TERRIBLE experience dealing with the landlords. The level of incompetence is just amazing! First, with moving in and giving me incorrect code (and the key box missing punch buttons). There was not a pool as advertised; maintenance response took forever and so I only contacted them if it was an emergency! In 2018, within a span of 6 months, I had a change of 4 managers at Blanton Turner who did not communicate with one another about their arrangements with me. In had to fight with them the entire way and had to prove with email records. First, they raised my rent from $925 to $1350 (in May 2019). The rental market was not doing well and finally, they gave me a $100 discount for being a model tenant who paid on time and allowed me to do month-to-month. Then in August when my check returned (I don't even know why and once again in November), I called them and found out I had owed them money (b/c lack of communication from the previous manager). I worked out a deal and was forced to sign a 6-month contract in September (but luckily, it ran from July-January 2019). In January, they no longer allowed me to do month to month. So, I decided to make my move to another city. Oh and they charged me $351 for carpet that should have been normal wear and tear (saying it was damaged, but really, just dirty by the front door) and had a 5 year life span! But we lived there for 3.5 years! Overall, sleazy management. Yeah, cheap at the time I was living there and close to UW (the only reason why I lived there). But I would never continued living there if I didn't know I was moving in 3 years.

Hello. I am going to share a review that I wrote for the neighboring Laurelhurst Apartments, as they are owned by the same people and managed by the same company. I lived in both for three years each. Here is my review: Don't live here if you can choose elsewhere. This complex and the neighboring Village Manor are owned by the same people who keep swapping management companies every year or so. The prices keep going up, the quality of life, and their service, is abysmal. We lived in Village Manor at first and noticed a lot of mildew and mold building up in the windows and bathrooms regularly. Even after cleaning it thoroughly many times, we still had what seemed to be severe allergy and mold symptoms all year round. On top of that, there was a big issue with tenants below us smoking cigarettes and we had to board up all the vents for what felt like months, until they were evicted. We eventually moved into the Laurelhurst Apartments to seek relief. We found some relief from the respiratory symptoms however, upon moving into the Laurelhurst Apartments, a contractor who recently renovated the unit we just moved into told me that, "Village Manor should be bulldozed". Upon asking why, he said that it was full of mold and had cracks. Earlier this year our dog passed away due to fighting lung cancer for a year or so, which is why we moved out on March 1st 2021. Sometimes we could smell smoke in the Laurelhurst Apartments, but not as bad as Village Manor. We still had allergy symptoms in Laurelhurst Apartments, but we didn't see any mold growth. Perhaps it was just the tree right in front of the window. The washer and dryer are also inside the unit. Whenever the dryer was running, our sinuses became irritated and clogged. To make these experiences worse, the maintenance took days to respond or show up. One time, my wife let them into the apartment to fix the bathroom. The guy opened the bedroom door while I was sleeping, because, he "thought it was the bathroom". Even though he had been there and the surrounding units many times. On top of this, there were numerous times I'd be woken up around 8-10am to the sound of not one, not two, but three leaf blowers blasting the acoustics in the community area. Being that I worked till late at night, this was a nightmare. I even woke to a chainsaw being used on a tree one morning. So, upon moving out on March 1st, we didn't really clean the place up like we normally would. We didn't feel like they earned our respect. They MAY HAVE killed our dog, and made us sick and annoyed. Even if they weren't directly responsible for any of it, we still feel that way. When we left the Village Manor after 3 years prior, they didn't charge us for the carpet damages either. This time, after 3 years in the Laurelhurst Apartments, they took all but $15 of our deposit and claimed it was generous - and replaced the carpet with our money. Today I just received a bill from the electric company that is charging me for Feb 26 - April 2nd. Clearly we didn't live there for that month. The management company screwed up, possibly intentionally I don't know, I feel like they were mad at us. To sum it up: Don't live in these two neighboring places. They will take your money and the buildings are disgusting. I hope they burn in hell. If you have the money or guts to do it, please file a lawsuit and contact the appropriate authorities about your situation.
