I have lived in this building for about 3 years now and really enjoy it. It was built about 100 years ago and was evidently the crown jewel for when the University District was originally built out--each unit even had an electric icebox built in, which was surely a luxury back in 1928. You feel a high level of craftsmanship that you don't see in modern construction: hand-crafted moldings, chair rails, and such. Best: it was put up before air conditioning was a thing and so you will never find yourself feeling hot in summer--there is a great breeze that passes through.
If you want to live in the U District, especially if you are a student, then this is the place for you. We're roughly 2 blocks away from main campus, across the street from the light rail station, and diagonal from the UW Tower. Apr 5th, 2024

The rent here is outrageous considering the quality. Packages are constantly stolen, drunk people and vandals constantly wander in, and management can be bothered to check cameras or implement any sort of creative problem solving. The first day I moved in the shower head was broken off and laying in my sink, the bathrooms sink was leaking, the floors were covered in a layer of dirt, and all the windows were wide open with no screens in the summer. 6 months later my sink still drips in the kitchen, they fixed the bathroom sink by turning off the hot water, and I still have no screens. Also the cheap white paint covering everything is peeling off the walls and counters. I wont even get into the shootings and screaming people outside since thats probably just Seattle. I could write a book of issues I have with this place. Save your money and move somewhere else.
Update after two months: sink still drips, still no screens, packages still stolen, and the screaming and fighting is now inside. Woke up to blood on the walls one morning. Lovely! Mar 24th, 2024

Super convenient location, walking distance to many stuff and right across the light rail station. But the building is very old and lift breaks down often, so beware. Oct 21st, 2023

Although I am a new resident here, I've been treated quite well. The building is old and has a lot of quirks, and the elevators are quite retro and have some issues. However, there's a great sense of community here, and it's clear that the staff has been working hard to address the previous management's negligence regarding maintenance work and other challenges. In my opinion, if you're looking to live here, you should understand that you're living in a historical building, and there will be quirks that come with it. I recognized this right away, and I'm okay with it. Your mileage may vary. Oct 18th, 2023

All of these reviews that have just been posted a week ago for 5 starts calling out dianna are so fake. The actual property manager Diana is writing them. They are false and have never been pleased with this apartment building lived here for three years left because of the new property manager being so slack, the actual definition of a slumlord. Any requests you have for maintenance for anything like elevators to your home she will not respond in a timely manner nor treat you correctly when you ask her to. Extremely unprofessional and only cares about money. Try to get every last drop of our money after the deposit saying that our place was filthy we had a professional cleaners do everything lol they didnt get that deposit because it was an illegitimate accusation. Thank you for your review, Lucy and for bringing everything to our attention. We have started renovating interiors of vacant units with flooring, paint, appliances, roller shades, and countertops. In regards to packages, we have been trying to implement a new system where residents can still get their packages at all times of the day. We apologize the unit was not up to standard when you moved in. We weren't able to find you in our system but if you would like to reach out to us at [email protected], we would love to assist with any ongoing issues you still may have!
