I have lived here for a few years and have absolutely loved every minute of it. This building is so gorgeous and has such a beautiful history. My apartment has lovely charm with its cool built ins and bay windows, but its made better with the modern touches that theyve done to accompany the space. The building manager is an ABSOLUTE gem and has been nothing but kind and extremely helpful since day one. I feel so lucky to have found this place. The neighborhood is lovely and fun with so many activities to do. Transportation is a breeze as youre pretty much close to everything. They have a parking lot located on the back side of the building which is super convenient. If youre looking for a classic gorgeous Seattle apartment building, this is it!

A solid place for affordable and responsible rent-seeking individuals. Property manager Jenny is great and very supportive of apartment needs. There are many lovely attractions in the area and for the apartment building itself, everyone is respectful and curtious of others safety and privacy. If you are a vintage-buiding lover, this place is great and better well-kept than other so called "vintage" buildings.

I lived at the Arkona for a couple of years and had a great experience. It was awesome to live in a building with so much history and personality. Jenny is the building manager and makes it a point to welcome you to the building with open arms. She is very quick to respond to any type of issue, and she is always willing to help in any way that she can.

I lived in the Arkona for a few years. Jenny was the property manager the entire time and was always extremely responsive and helpful. She definitely raised the bar when it came to my expectations of communication with my building team. Service was usually done quickly and the maintenance teams were respectable. If I was evaluating the service alone I'd give the team 5 stars. Gibralter is easy to contact and the appfolio website makes all your maintenance requests and bills easy. The space needle is within walking distance with access to the Armory (Food court), lots of walkable restaurants and a bus stop right outside from the front door. The building also has original mailboxes in the entrance way, very cool looking but dont worry there is a locked mail room. There is a 24hr gas station out back which is great for quick needs late at night. There is App operated washing machines in the basement which you will need cell service to access. As a google fi user I had fine service but some others did not. Do be careful about your lease agreement and wall damage. You need to be in the building for 3 years if you want to add holes for shelves/paintings. This building is really old and has quite a few layers of paint. Be careful with things like command strips as they can pull away your paint unintended. My unit did get a new oven when I first moved in and it was a blessing. Be prepared for small kitchens. Better than the micro apartment kitchens by miles but you still will find a need for a table for prepping meals as counter space is minimal. The studio apartment I was in had a great little separated 'doorway' you could hang curtains between to separate your living and sleeping spaces. I thought this was super cute and I do believe I saw it in other units as well. The closet in my unit was also rather deep, you could walk back into it. Good for storage. They also seem to be constantly updating paint and carpet. They recently repainted all the main hallways/door. The back alley has MANY trash/recycling bins you will get access to. This makes trash take out easy. They are all locked as unlocked bins lead to trash being pulled out by houseless individuals. The building became very strict about leaving the back doors propped open because of some issues of people coming inside when they shouldn't. There are some downsides to the Arkona that I think come with the area and the age of the building.. The building is old and not built accessible for those who may need walking aids. I typically chose to carry my bags upstairs vs taking the elevator just because it was old and had a manual gate. However the neat factor for this is definitely there. There is also a housing authority behind the building and government housing a block away. This combined with post "Climate pledge" event rowdiness you will get some noise. However that being said the walls are THICK and I could hardly ever hear my own neighbors. Building is pet friendly! I see tons of dogs come in and out. I had a kitty myself and it was never an issue. The park near the climate pledge arena is a great spot for dogs walks and super close.
