By the Side of the Road Inn & Cottages

Found this little gem by accident when looking for a romantic 1 night getaway near Harrisonburg. I stayed in the Clover cottage and it was delightful. The bed was probably the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The huge bath tub was amazing. There was a personalized greeting when I arrived, and even a precious ginger greeter that came to say hello. Super close to restaurants and shops. We will definitely return.

It's one of the loveliest places we've ever stayed. There's a see-through fireplace warming both the bedroom and the bathroom, robes, coffee, beautiful, all the amenities. Close to Washington DC and National Forest. It was really perfect.

I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay in the Magnolia Cottage. We knew before leaving home that the weather was bringing a winter storm, and called to request a different cottage than the one I booked, so that we would have a fireplace on the same level as the main living space. Jesse was quick to respond, and able and happy to accommodate my request. All the touches were perfect - champagne in our fridge, a welcome note, an incredibly comfortable bed and a two-sided fireplace. The cottage was romantic and comfortable, nicely decorated and spotless. We were able to comfortably hunker down for the majority of the weekend - which was actually what we both desperately needed. We appreciated the mini kitchen and wet bar - and took advantage of them more than we may have if the weather had been good. The hosts were friendly, responsive and helpful. Honestly, if you are thinking about a weekend getaway at this Inn, just DO it. We know for certain we will go back. Thank you!!
