Super 8 by Wyndham San Antonio/Alamodome Area

I've stayed at this hotel several times when visiting family in the area. The building and the rooms are clean and well-maintained. The beds are comfortable and the AC is cold. The staff members are friendly and professional. The price is very reasonable given the proximity to downtown. For me, this hotel is the perfect midpoint between the luxury downtown hotels that cost twice as much and the fleabag motels in the neighborhood. There's nothing to walk to in the immediate vicinity besides an IHOP, but there's a large shopping center about a mile away with a grocery store, a movie theater, and a decent assortment of restaurants. Kind of a grim walk, but a quick and easy drive.

Management and front desk is useless. They refused to provide extra blankets at night, front desk seriously asked us why do we need blankets. Didn't provide us soaps for 2 people and refused to deliver them to our room. They are not directly operated by Whydham as well, it's just a franchise.

Rooms were ok. Nice, clean, and updated. Surrounding area not so nice. Pool was super small and not heated. Kids could not last as they turned purple... My advice is to head further south down the road and stay somewhere nicer...

The hotel is pretty decent, the lady working the desk was very nice and courteous, and check in was a breeze. I was surprised to find out my room was literally the first room on the first floor, room 108, when I asked well in advance to be placed on the highest floor possible. I understand that the top floor may not have been available, but this place definitely didn't seem packed and there were not that many cars, and to place us in the very first room on the very first floor felt a bit like a slap in the face from someone who doesn't like special requests. The water pressure in the shower was bad, it barely flowed, and the water only got luke warm, so we were freezing every time we showered, and had to run and get warm under the covers before getting dressed. The bed however was extremely comfortable and the pillows were comfy and the AC worked great and I wouldn't mind staying again if I could be placed on a higher floor and test out the shower head before committing to a room.
