Candlewood Suites San Antonio Downtown by IHG

I have spent the last two months here on military business so I feel qualified to leave a valid review. During my time at the hotel I have gotten to know most of the staff and management on a first name basis. Each morning as I left for work I was greeted by the housekeeping staff and front desk. They made me feel very welcome. Cleanliness: The housekeeping ladies were amazing and were always diligently working to keep the hotel clean as a pin. I never saw a single insect or anything out of order during my stay (yes, I did inspect). My room was cleaned on a regular basis and I don't recall lacking for anything. Location: When I selected the hotel, I was concerned I would hear freeway noise but this was not the case. It was perfectly quiet and the fact the the hotel is close to the freeway/entrance and basically every interchange made it a great starting point to travel anywhere in any direction. I did not worry about my car or my possessions either. The hotel is quite close to downtown, the Bluestar and King Williams District. I felt safe walking around and spent quite a bit of time at the riverwalk nearby. Staff: While each of the staff members were helpful and friendly, there are a few worthy of mention: Nicole, Gigi, Gley, and Chris went above and beyond and I'm grateful I got to know each of them. Bottom line: I would happily choose to stay here again and I would recommend it to my friends and family.

Was very clean! The people were very nice and helpful. Weather didn't permit swimming but my great nephew said it was great. Overall it was a great stay!

The room has a strong Febreze smell, I assume that is for covering some other unpleasant smell. The hotel is not in particular clean condition, but kinda acceptable. After 10 or 11pm, there is a chance that the front desk person left so you have to on your own.

So, I was satisfied w/the facility. The location was okay and the faculty was nice. Clean. The people next to us smoke weed every night, but I suppose they have no control over that. What I didn't like is feeling scammed. We were quoted an online price and my niece used a discount. We secured that price and got our room. Well, when we checked out they said nothing until my niece came down, all of a sudden there is an additional $80 charge. Why? You never said that before. We paid when we got there. Why did they not say that? I feel like the charge was a scam. They said we weren't charged for all the nights. If that was the case we would have stayed at the one we were at. They didn't even try to accommodate us for their mistake (if it even was a mistake). There was a black man and girl w/red hair. Rooms: The rooms were super spacious and clean. They were comfortable beds.
