I worked w Gordon Chin and he fully prepared me in dealing with any out of state dealer when making a purchase on a very low mileage new vehicle. There really is a lexicon or vernacular used by dealers in getting a deal done in their favor. Gordon schooled me on potential "tricks in the trade" and how to potentially ask the right questions so you make a fair deal. He was very clear in that not all dealers operate to your disadvantage but there are ways and specifics to inquire about, especially when traveling to make a purchase on an Internet Vehicle. I flew out to AZ, and Gordon asked if I knew anyone living in the area that could verify what was in the online pictures, or at the very least have salesperson take fresh photos of the vehicle and send them to me; as so happened I did know someone (through a biz partner in the car biz) that drove to the dealership and verified condition and value in the vehicle. 48 hrs later and, putting $1000 hold on the vehicle, I flew out to make the deal. I actually did not see the 4" scratch about 1/4" above the tail light lens, once my wife immediately spotted it I called the person that inspected it for me right away and it was not there 2 days earlier. The salesman said it wasn't there and the Detail crew the day before said it was not there. I was told it was originally bought there 10 months ago and traded in for a more of an off road style truck, this told to me before I left and I asked the salesmans boss when we got there with the same answer. So then they brought in a little fella that came in and told me he picked it up at an auction and would give me $250 which was his cost to repair the vehicle but it would take a week, that was a non starter as far as I was concerned. Thanks to the pre coaching by Gordon I stopped them from the whole ordeal of going back and forth between managers to see what they could do. Basically, I told them I would take $1500 cash or I would either fly home or get a one way rental and drive home. I had already called home and sent pictures to a body shop I am familar with and a friend that builds and restores show cars and trucks. They both told me they could make the repair between $500 & $750 at the most. The salesman said they would take $1500 off the vehicle price, so I took it and will get it fixed here at home. None of this would have happened without the help of Gordon prior to going out there and making a deal. His rates were they same as the dealers so we had plan prior to financing, I was putting about 1/2 down and he helped me in negotiating that part of the deal also. He will get my business from now on, he made what could have been a very stressful process so much easier. Pick up the phone and give them a call before you start shopping, I don't believe you'll regret it, thanks Gordon!!
