Nice trail in south San Antonio. Hopefully parking will soon be added off 281 as well. To do just the five miles of the new trail to 281 we park in parking off Camino Coahuilteca street. This trail has some shady spots but in some areas there is no shade so I would recommend having a hat for the hotter days. From the beginning of this trail from the River to 281, I believe it is 5 miles. There are no restrooms or water source so again be prepared with water. However if you continue across 281 to the next trail there is a gas station with restrooms. There are some picnic tables and large rocks where you could sit and eat and also some trash cans. So far we have seen crows, hawks vultures, waterfowls and (my favorite) a crested caracara.
