I got sick after I dealt with the GunDoctor on Lake Street in Roselle Illinois. I don't think I have ever written a bad review about any business online but this group is beyond belief. I dropped off 4 guns on April 12th at which time I was told it would take a month to fix and they would be calling me in a couple of weeks with an estimate. I called them last Thursday the 8th of May left a message and didn't hear back. I call the next day and a man answered and look up up my information and very rudely said " why are you calling, it takes at least 4 weeks" I responded that I was waiting to hear about the estimate of repairs. He told me that they didn't have a chance to look at them yet. Rude would be an understatement. He was obnoxious. Instead of arguing I politely asked if I could pick up my property and if there was any charge? Very rudely he said I come and get them and there would be no charge. I was there within an hour. When I got there a gentleman that attempted to help was motioned by a woman Mandi to let her talk to me. Mandi made no apology but stated that 2 of my guns were in in pieces being cleaned and stripped and that I could not have them because they did not have a gunsmith there that day. She admitted that she was aware of what I was told on the phone, but if I wanted my guns returned there would be a charge of $48.00 a piece and I would have to come back on Tuesday to get them. I told her that was not what I was told when I dropped them off and when I called. She pulled out some paper work that was vague and boasted about being the owner. I stated well you were here at the counter when I dropped them off and were part of the conversation. You would think that the owner of a shop would have a enough sense to back up their employees? What was really funny is the guy who originally tried to help me when I walked in tried to pull some tough intimating act by standing behind me when Mandi was being anything professional. I returned on Tuesday, honestly thinking that perhaps they were having a bad day last Friday and things would be different. . Mandi was there and I was treated extremely rude by another employee who reminded of Lurch. I am upset with my self because if I had read the reviews before going there, it would have given me a better idea of what I was dealing with. I don't recall ever having such a terrible experience with a business ever. I have never felt compelled to write a unfavorable review, but this shop deserves it. the way they deal with customers is pitiful.

Customer service is not their strongest. The whole time being there, I felt like I was bothering employees with my legitimate questions, which would have eventually turned into sales. How do you expect to make a sale if you could care less to associate/relate to the customer? I sure do hope their retention is good...

If you are ever feeling a bit too happy, and want to get treated like a know-nothing idiot, go into the Gun Doctor. They'll fix you right up. There's no telling how many people that they have put off from buying guns because their customer service is so poor. If you have to have something today, and can't wait for it to come in the mail, they may have what you're looking for. My advice is to know exactly what you want when you go in, buy it, and leave. Because expecting them to be polite, patient, and helpful is a pipe dream.

Bought a .380. Even with the ammo shortage, they found enough to make sure I could at least load one clip to defend myself. Academy won't do that...
