I was automatically switched to Edgar when my previous agent left Farmer's. Over the last year, he's been impossible to get in touch with, leading me to ultimately call their corporate office and request a different agent.

In January the renewal rates for our auto insurance from Farmers went up exponentially so I shopped around and found the same coverage through another company for hundreds less a month. Prior to my policy renewal date, I sent an email to Edgar asking to cancel my policies (auto and homeowners) with confirmation that it was completed. A few business days go by with no response so I sent another email. Yet again no response. I called his agency the next day and one of his employees Janet said I needed to email to cancel, which I explained I had already done multiple times with no response. She gave me her email address (not a Farmers email, a Gmail address) and said to send the request to her instead. She said she would have to send the request to the underwriters to process the cancellation. The next day she responded to confirm that the policy was cancelled.
After I received the email confirmation, I removed my auto pay from my account just in case, which thankfully I did. Yesterday I got an email directly from Farmers saying that my policy was still effective and that I owed payment for February and March. I immediately called Edgars office and left a message because they were out of office. The next day, I received no phone call or response to my message and called his office again. I spoke with Janet again asking to speak directly to Edgar. She said he was at lunch and didnt know when hed be back. When I asked again for a better time to speak to him she put me on hold to see when hed return from lunch. After placing me on hold she said that he was actually speaking to another customer and would call me more than an hour later. I refused to hang up because of their previous lack of responding and stayed on hold for more than 20 minutes before he was available to speak to me.
When I was finally able to speak to him he acted like he had no idea why I was contacting his office. I had to reexplain everything and sure enough he was able to cancel immediately while I was on the phone. Interesting that no underwriters needed to be involved this time.
I would absolutely not recommend Edgar and his associates to anyone looking for insurance policies. You will be met with no response, apathy, and little care for your needs as a customer. The only reason we ended up with Edgar as our agent is because our previous agent left Farmers and he was then assigned as our agent. From my first contact to today, it has taken 3 weeks and persistent communication on my end to resolve this issue with him. Hopefully this review will cause Edgar and his associates to review their customer service response skills.
