        Dr. James Showery is an excellent spine surgeon. He explains everything about the procedure in detail. Hes patient when youre upset about getting the surgery scheduled sooner rather than later because one needs to return to school to complete a Masters degree. He has a calming effect to get a hasty patient so ready to get the surgery over with, to calm down. He has excellent bedside manners. My family and I truly have confidence in Dr. Showerys gift as a spine surgeon. Hes a great physician, and we all appreciate him. Thank you so very much Dr. Showery. May you and your family be blessed of the Lord always. In Jesus name. Amen.

        Dr. Showery and his staff are amazing! I was frightened to have back surgery, but his assistant, Katie and Dr. Showery calmed my fears. I have other medical issues, so Dr.. Showery made sure he had an amazing team inside the OR.It has been 4 days since my surgery, and I feel amazing! I can climb my stairs without pain! Im walking without pain! I am so, so thankful for Dr. Showerys healing hands!If you have tried shots and ablation of your nerves but still continue to suffer, please give Dr. Showery a call. I am so thankful and pleased with the outcome!

        I visited Dr. Showery's office today. I had an MRI and X-ray done in December and an EMG a few weeks ago. The only reason it took me so long to visit his office was that they didn't have any openings for new patients earlier. Today, when I arrived, they told me I had to redo everything since it's been more than six months. I left the office without seeing the doctor, feeling that they care more about making money than about their patients.The only reason I see for redoing all these tests is to charge insurance and make money. We all know that X-rays will not show a herniated disk and MRI results won't change overnight!

      Dr. James Showery is an Assistant Professor in the department of Orthopaedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Showery specializes in spine surgery with an emphasis in spinal trauma, revision spinal surgery, adult degenerative scoliosis, complex spinal deformity, spine injuries in athletes, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Additionally, he has special interest in optimizing the patient experience throughout all episodes of care, from non-operative treatment to the pre- and post-operative period. Dr. Showery received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin. He attended the Texas Tech University Health Science Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in his hometown of El Paso, Texas and completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at Houston. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Spine Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Showery is member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, AONA-Spine, and Lumbar Spine Research Society. He is active in resident education both locally and nationally through the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, has presented research at national and international meetings, has authored several peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and has developed multiple ongoing research studies in spine surgery. His research interests include spinal trauma, spinal cord injury, peri-operative patient care optimization, and spine biomechanics.
