Jose M. Marchena, MD, DMD, is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with interests in facial fractures, maxillofacial mucosal and cutaneous pathology, impacted wisdom teeth, and international humanitarian surgery. Marchena rejoined McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston in 2015, where he’s an associate professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery, after a successful career in private practice. Marchena is the chief of oral and maxillofacial surgery at Ben Taub Hospital. He is also the vice president of Smile Bangladesh, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing cleft lip and palate repair operations in rural Bangladesh. He’s a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a fellow of the American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
