I've been in several different rehab facilities. Methodist Rehab is the absolute best rehab I have ever been in. Everyone from therapist, nurses, doctors and PCA's, were caring, attentive, knowledgeable and supportive.

My complaint is the front desk. Recently called on a Thursday to reschedule a Monday appt., call went to voicemail, left a detailed message asking for a return call. Friday repeated leaving voicemails twice. In between leaving voicemails asking for a return call I made several attempts to call hoping a person would answer, a person did answer and immediately hung up the phone without saying anything. At my next appt I asked the front desk, male and female was there a problem with their voicemail, the woman completely ignored me, the man said, maybe and said he would put a ticket in. Completely unprofessional and uninterested. The physical therapists are terrific. Your front office staff need training on how to answer a phone.

I hate giving negative reviews, especially for healthcare providers, but as one myself, I think its important to be an informed patient. I waited over 2.5 weeks for my initial appointment. The day of my appointment, they called to reschedule because the therapist I was scheduled with had to be out unexpectedly. They tried to push me to a different day and I asked if they could try to work something out for that day (as I had already made work arrangements to be there). They were able to move some things around to get me in the same day I was scheduled, but they werent too friendly about it. I gave them a pass on this....stuff happens. I get it. I just wish they had worked to move things around to accommodate me before I had to ask. They made me feel guilty for asking and said multiple times that the therapist had to be out for a sick kiddo. I understand, but its still difficult to put that burden on the patient who waited so long for an appt. The next appt I was scheduled for (a wk later) they called to tell me it would be cancelled because the therapist had a death in the family. I also understand this unexpected situation in the work place. However, I am shocked that as a practice as large as theirs that they cannot figure out staffing coverage to ensure that they arent trying to cancel a patients appts back to back like this. My appt was two days away- seemed like that should be enough notice for them to figure out their staffing to minimize the impact on patient care w/ cancellations. They again said twice, well her mom died...like I should feel guilty for even asking for my appt to remain for the same day. Saying it twice like I didnt hear them the first time. It was quite odd and very rude customer service. Im not an insensitive person, but once again, I had already made work arrangements to make this appt. I am used to working in a large medical practice in which we figure out coverage when other providers have to be out unexpectedly. The goal is to minimize the effect on patient care. It was insulting to me that they did this on back to back appts and both times the tone on their end was non too friendly. Im not sure if they are used to having patients that are retired & dont work, or have otherwise very flexible jobs, but many of us do not have the flexibility to accommodate so many cancellations for appts Id skip the med ctr practice. They dont seem to have a good handle on staffing or scheduling. I used to work at Methodist and have always recommended the hospital and its specialist to friends & coworkers. I hope to continue to do this, but I wont be able to include the PT practice in that recommendation.
