My PCP referred me to Dr. Shiue for high blood pressure. The first week she made sure to get as much money as she could; I had to wear a heart monitor foe a week, had ultrasounds of my legs/etc, there were NO problems there. I asked for a new blood pressure med because the one I'm on is too strong and makes my pulse too low, 41 & below. She tried to get me to take Cardura 2 days before cataract surgery, but that medicine can't be taken even 2 weeks before cataract surgery as it could cause something called "floppy iris syndrome" and it's untreatable! I know she knew I was having cataract surgery because she asked me if I needed them to fax over a Release For Surgery to my eye doctor! Also, Cardura is typically used for men with prostate problems, it helps them go pee. I don't have a prostate (I'm a bioligical female without gender disphoria, I have NO prostate, and NO problem going pee! She never followed up nor tried to prescribe anything else. I've been trying to get in touch with her all week, not knowing she's on vacation, but when the NP who's covering for her leaves me a message, I have a HARD time understanding her foreign accent (I couldn't even understand her name!) She tried to prescribe the same meds that I already told Dr Shiue I can't take. I will be looking for a new cardiologist TODAY!!!
