I rented an Apartment at Kia Ora. Upon leaving, I ensured the apartment was very well-cleaned. The pre-inspection received results and compliments from Assistant Manager Maria, saying the apartment was in great shape. I was informed that I could expect my deposit of less than $25 (as I inadvertently left the trash can outside, believing that should have been done). It's been almost a month (when I was told it would be two weeks). I called the complex and was told I should have received $196 (as it had been sent out 2 weeks after my move) because of carpet and house cleaning fees. This is unacceptable when the apartment was rent-ready when I moved out. I pride myself on NEVER leaving an apartment in any shape other than excellent. I want to be contacted with the specifics. I have a detailed video of the apartment and had an individual come and view the apartment to witness that the apartment was in excellent condition.

This is my 3rd time living in a BH managed property. Here we go again...... I rented an apartment from BH Management - Domain at Midtown Park for over two years. I moved from the apartment in February 2023 into another BH Management Apartment - Kia Ora. Once I moved, I was informed that I did not owe anything and the prior apartment at Domain was in good shape. Now, here we are in April 2024, over a year and two months later, and I have moved back to Domain at Midtown, which another company now manages. I received a call this morning from a collections agency - Rent Recovery Solutions 678.......stating they represent Domain at Midtown, and I owe them $185 for moveout fees. I am beyond frustrated with dealing with BH Management and their bullying and unprofessional techniques in finding ways to charge people when they move out. How in the world do I owe something to an old apartment that I was instructed was in good shape and owed nothing now, almost a year and a half later, with no prior contact (and I resided in another of their properties), and I owe them money? I want them to stop contacting me with bogus/ghost fees and refrain from having a collections agency contact me when I have never owed them anything. They are disorganized, pushing illegal and bullying tactics to recoup money that is not owed.

EDIT: The email provided to me in the response to my initial review isn't even set up to receive emails, so although it seems like they provide a way for you to discuss issues with someone, you can't. This is just another way this management company and apartment complex make people think they handle issues. I lived at a BH property, the Domain at Midtown Park for over a year. From the other reviews for the Domain, and other reviews for BH - Dallas, I am one of many who has had issues with this apartment complex. It also seems that many people, like me, have problems getting their security deposit back after living here. Beware -- do not live at the Domain at Midtown Park. I had problems from the moment I moved in, including moving into a very dirty apartment that was clearly not cleaned after the last person moved out, cockroaches (that remained a problem the entire time I lived there), and a fire alarm that continually beeped in my building for a month. I moved out on December 31 and received less than half of my security deposit back. They kept over $400 and I still have yet to receive an explanation of why because the only thing I received was a check for the very little amount they returned. After calling the leasing office several times with no answer (another problem with this place), I finally got ahold of someone who said the assistant manager would send me photos of why my deposit was withheld. This was on January 30. I have called and emailed multiple times since then and I have yet to receive an answer or the photos they claim explain why my deposit was withheld. I took very good care of my apartment, so dont live here unless you intend to throw your security deposit away.

I want to note that this is an issue i am having with BH Management itself, not my former apartment community. Long story short, I have been waiting for MONTHS to get my security deposit back from this company since my move at the beginning of September. I was informed that the management company deals with all of that now, NOT the apartment complexes, so I have to contact them with any issues since it is out of the hands of my former community. I have called and emailed countless times because my check was lost by USPS and I am needing them to reissue a new check and cancel the old one so I could get the deposit back. Truthfully, it has been a nightmare trying to get action from them on this. Everyone at BH I have spoken to comes back with I have emailed accounting and Ill let you know what they say. Literally every time I reach out. This is money I should have had months ago, and it doesnt seem like anyone at the corporate office cares that nothing is happening. No update emails/calls, no progress, nothing. I even left a voicemail for the regional manager at one point after I hadnt heard from anyone else and they didnt get back to me at all. The only redeeming quality is that when I am able to get ahold of someone they are kind over the phone. Though that doesnt mean much at this point. I have recently reached back out to my old complex, despite knowing this is something BH handles, to see if they can help light a fire under this to get something done and even they are being ghosted by accounting from the sounds of it. I am out a few hundred dollars now and I am at my wits end here trying to get this money back to me it would be helpful if someone could at least tell me why Im having to wait or what the hold up may be, but I dont even get calls back at this point. I guess just be warned that if you have an issue at an BH property and have to take it up with the management company, you may just get the run around, too. Genuinely disappointed at how this experience has been for me because I had always assumed that they would be on top of things based on my experience as a tenant all I want is my deposit back.
