DUC Junior Novice program for U15 boys has been a great foundation for my 13-year-old. He is conditioning 6 days a week and rowing in a variety of seats to expose him to the sport. The coaching staff is unmatched for training athletes, but also includes specific guidance on how to get recruited for college teams (broken down by school year and your athlete's collegiate goal). An amazing, multi-faceted, challenging, and rewarding experience for the athlete and parents.

This is the third year my son being part of the DUC crew. If there are part of life where one's life is been completely re-shaped, this is the part for my son for sure. As Coach Perry put it, there will be a name tag for each member in the boat house forever, so will DUC be in his heart for his life. Before trying rowing, he has tried so many different sports, from the more popular activities such as tennis, soccer, golf, swimming to less popular ones like fencing, hiphop dancing and kungfu. nothing clicked with him. He was just a house worm who likes video games, magic cards and nothing else. It was so difficult even to get him out of the house. Rowing is something different. I do not know what the magic Coaches at DUC have done, he gets up 4am in the morning every day 6 days a week. His hands were covered with huge blisters 15 of them once I counted. "everybody has them, we don't talk about these things". Soon the blisters went away and became hard callus in his palm, so did this little boy grew to a responsible and strong young man. He build brotherhood with the crew at his boat, together they won the championship of Texas, then championship of the central region. Together they fought hard with the nation's professional team who had been dominating this sports for 75 years! They built the spirit of discipline, devoting, team work and resilience. I am so grateful for DUC for the young man they have turned my little boy into.
