Not sure what happened here as I remember it being incredible. Went on a Saturday evening for 8 pm reservations and we were the ONLY PEOPLE in the entire restaurant and had the vibe that it was 11 pm and closing time. So weird! And awkward! We decided to stay for a drink and appetizer since we had come all that way. Only sake and wine at the bar (which was weird because they tell you they decided to not renew their liquor license? Odd). We opted for the sake pear martini which was really good. We got the lobster cake appetizer. Very good. The little sampling of the sweet potato leek soup was yummy. But they were not even offering the tasting menu at 8 pm on a Saturday? Again. Weird. It felt like they didnt want to go to the effort for just two people. The staff was very cordial. We asked where everyone was and they said their wave of people is usually at 6 pm. So maybe we were just off in our timing? But still downtown Dallas/Deep Ellum and a gist town restaurant while other places were busy. Hope they are doing okay as I have great memories of this place/food. For two pear martinis and the lobster cake -$70.

Food as delicious and the atmosphere romantic in the old brick building with original wood floors, but the wait staff had no idea what they were doing and was overwhelmed and that made the experience fall flat. Couldn't handle the slightly busy Valentines day crowd. Took 30 mins to even get attention from anyone for anything other than water after being seated for an on-time reservation. Finally got a drink, but once those were empty never got asked by staff if another was wanted. Ordered the tasting menu which was delicious and could tell was well-thought by the chef, but wait staff did a poor job of explaining/delivering each dish, never checked to see if we wanted more drinks, and then accidently started serving us one of the wine pairings midway through the courses which we did not ask for but was then put on the bill anyway. They made it right on the bill, but the wait staff just really needs more training on fine-dining service. Multi-course tasting menu should take time, but not 3 hours of time on a weeknight and should be treated more as a special occasion that it is to order. For the pricing of everything would have expected much more.
