Long story short, stay away from this company. Dig a little and don't make the same mistakes we made. They are very demanding, yet will come with excuses not to pay you what you're owed. They are a bag of liars, unscrupulous, and cynical all across the board. You will regret dealing with them, trust us. There are many other subcontractors that unfortunately have been through the same issues we did. Once again, dig a little and you will save a headache. Now, the long version. We are a subcontractor and were hired by Mapp Built back in 2021 for some storefront/curtain wall for a project in Bay Area. From the get-go they begged to get our pricing lowered, which we did to win the contract. Huge mistake! During the whole installation process we had a lot of back and forth with the Project Manager. We completed all our of scope of work since last year and it took them over a YEAR to finally process the retainage. When we finally received the check, it was issued with 12k less than the amount we were due. Even after they had stated a different amount just months before they issued the check! Out of nowhere, we were now backcharged for a lift that we used no more than 2 days. We're also being backcharged for some hardware WE bought and WE installed... Over 12K worth of backcharges that were never brought to our attention until now. Conveniently, they stated the PM who submitted these backcharges is no longer with the company and there is no resolution to this. "Unfortunately there is no money to cover this in any way as we took a severe haircut on this job... I dont like it but thats where we are at." How is this even a response?? You really think a preposterous response like this one is from someone worth investing your money in? How does this make any sense? Do yourself a favor, and stay away from MAPP.
