Background: Tenate that keeps to myself and pays rent and all bills on time. Selling points: It's quiet and didn't have any problems (until people started stealing my stuff and writing weird notes in the dust on my cars). Quick fixes to maintenenace calls. Free cable, for a certain lot of channels. Cars are parked behind a gate so the can't be stolen. Nice wooden floors. Close to subway and dickey's. Bad points: When i moved in, i was told that i would be paying for my own electricity. LIES! The electricity is pooled, so even if i don't use a lot, i pay the same amount as the person living next to me pumping out electricity (even more so since i live in the townhouse/loft style apt). I like to keep my apt at 60 degrees. The air conditiner is either always on heat or always on cold. THERE IS NO INBETWEEN and i wasn't told this from the beginning. So now, i'm sitting here in an 82 degree apartment (in December) WHILE SICK (with possibly the flu) with the doors and windows open on both floors and giant box fans because i can't cool and heat my apartment at my own leasure. Within a month of me moving in here, something in the sewage lines burst in my apartment. Even though i kept complaining of the smells, i had to live with it until Maria (who tries to do all she can, she's sweet) finally got someone in here and all they did was put an air freshener in my vent that i have to replace from time to time to keep the smell away. Also, when my lease was about to expire (Expired Dec. 26th, called 3 weeks ahead of that), i was told that i would have to wait and sign a lease at the beginning of the year, while they figured out the pricing increase and until then i would continue paying what i pay and go month to month. Also, when i moved in, i was pulling out of my garage until the garage smashed the right side of my vehicle while closing. The safety on their garages was that whether it was opening or closing, if something crossed the line while moving, IT SHUTS! Not like normal garages that you know, open back up as a safety precaution. So when i brought this to the attention of management, their response was, "We are not liable for your car, YOU must have done something wrong", they put up signs that said we are not liable for incidences with cars, and stuffed some foam in the sensor guard in my individual garage (and probably others). $200+ dollars down the drain there! There's a workout room, but no equipement in it at all. Before i bought a mini washer and dryer, the washer's and dryers would always take my money. There was a jacuzzi, but it never worked. At least they finally moved it off the property. So, if i had to do all of this over again... I would NOT choose these aparments and i'm probably going to move as soon as I find a home to buy.
