South Philly Food Co-op

Friendly staff, good selection of local and in season produce and prepared foods. A bit more expensive than the supermarket, but at least the money is going right back to the community.

Great selection considering its size and considering its location! Best peanut butter in Philly I can't vouch for the cost of the produce, but I can say it always looks fresh and delish. I'd give them a 5, but they're kinda hostile to my service dog (anytime we visit, like 3 ppl will remind us they don't allow dogs). I even got a free donut there once!

I was excited to find a new Produce Co-op near my neighborhood, but I was greatly disappointed after having a go - everything seemed overpriced, sometimes double what I see at other co-ops! The produce selection was very limited and looked old and near to rot, if not already at that point. The meat choices were unsurprisingly limited, nothing special at their shelf stable and tinned food aisles, but pricier than other co-ops. The dairy choices were three to four times more expensive than they should have been for mass-produced dairy items. If I needed to buy one specific thing and South Philly Food Co-op was my most convenient choice I might return, but otherwise I'll pass.
