They don't reward loyalty I been working there for 8 months. It was a great environment until they ruined it plus you're also getting underpaid. They try to cheat you out on a fair salary. Jenna was a co-teacher who was constantly on vacation and never present as a preschool teacher. Me and Jenna started together and for a month she probably didn't even work there a full week in the first month. Any little thing they would send her home while she was reaping the benefits of others work while not being 100% present. While I and a handful of other teachers would cover for her. She micro-managed my space. My class was next to hers.Once she got promoted I confronted her on her micro-managing when I got nothing but compliments from my parents and boss. She doubled down because she lacks boundaries and is a control freak. She is very micro-agressive. I didn't tolerate a co-worker trying to give me unsolicited advice as well as acting like someone's mother. Not sure if she was bored and didn't have real work to do. We got a new boss (I forgot her name with due respect she was only my boss for 2 weeks) during the new year and Jenna got promoted. Then she doubled down on the micro-managing. She took advantage of the new Boss being there for 2 weeks then she tried to "put the word in." After I stood up for myself and asked her to stop micro-managing me. She was only doing it to me before and after her promotion. Im nice and thats why. They brought me downstairs to get me to sign a contract to put me on a 30 day trial and to try to demote me and my pay to the equivalence of minimum wage in New York city. Which is laughable when assistant teachers there were getting paid $16. My pay rate as a Lead Toddler Teacher. Exploiting me. Keep in mind, Ms.Heather my old boss gave me a great performance review 2 weeks prior. The teachers are great but the new management is very passive-aggressive, nasty, and unprofessional. Very much power tripping. They're not used to being in positions of power it shows. Poor leadership skills. They want to find any reason to expect a 4 star center on a bottom of the barrel budget. If you're a teacher you're better off going somewhere else where you're appreciated by employers. They also don't cover you for CDA or schooling. Go somewhere where you don't have to deal with cheap people. Even after I left the new boss not sure if it was guilt. She would text me trying to "check in" on me. Saying she was, "thinking about me." It felt insincere and like she wanted to know my business. With how she had handle me I dont know why she bothered. I loved those kids and you made sure to make me uncomfortable and took me downstairs to talk about YOU and your 30+ years of work experience because you thought I couldn't handle criticism and would get loud or disrespectful because you made an excuse to try and demote me and save money. Again a power trip. Also I know when Im being talked AT vs talked too. Another lady who thought she was my mom. I was very confused it was very unprovoked the attitude and disrespect. They knew I wasnt going to like the contract so I wasnt sure why they even presented it to me in the first place with no prior verbal warnings before. I received disrespect in my final moments being there. I'm not sure if it was ageism I was experiencing because I was young and both you and Jenna tried to little girl me even though I showed up to work for those kids everyday and wasn't constantly calling out. I'm happy I gave you my fob and said, " I couldn't accept this." and left gracefully. Dont ever text my phone again. Teachers are underpaid, no room for growth in that center. They don't look at work ethic they look at what is beneficial for them and should focus on paying their teachers and putting money where their mouth is. The teachers make the environment great and they deserve so much more. The Great teachers not including myself are not replaceable. They are what make The Fish-town center great as they are empathetic, caring, and kind. Management is not. Poor leadership skills its unstable.

Our son has flourished at the Fishtown school. He was a little slow to talk around the time he started there at 18 months and now hes a total chatterbox, even starting to read and do simple math at just shy of 3 years old. In the preschool class, they do a ton of art, some yoga, sometimes they even cook together making banana bread and other fun recipes, the older kids go to the playground at the rec center when the weather permits, and they visit the library. I love that they take advantage of their excellent location in the neighborhood. We have made a lot of friends with the other families that send their kids there, too, which has been such an unexpected bonus. Its a small school with a really low student to teacher ratio. Ms Genna was a fabulous preschool teacher. Shes now in the assistant director role and we couldnt be happier.
