I dont leave reviews. I hate complaining publicly like this but I feel obligated to warn anyone who is considering this place. Do not live here. Each of our utilities broke at least once and each incident took weeks and sometimes months to repair. We had a broken shower for two months. Broken washing machine. Broken dryer. Broken dishwasher. Broken air conditioning. Broken sink. Broken everything. We were paying for all of these appliances for months while they were unusable and management did nothing unless we relentlessly badgered them. We placed countless calls and orders over the course of our lease and it was pretty frustrating. Then, the mice came. We looked the building rep who showed us the place in the eye and asked if they had mice and they assured us theyd never had a problem. But there were hundreds of mice in the walls. Literally hundreds. They never stopped coming. An exterminator came and basically explained that nothing can be done, and he also told us that hed been in the apartment many times with different tenants over the years and that the building had lied to us. The exposed brick, location, and low rent are super appealing but its cheap for a reason and its not even worth that. Do not live in this building. Just dont. There are so many mice. Its horrendous.

I recently moved to Philadelphia from New York City during the COVID-19 pandemic. I contacted Brandywine via their website indicating interest in an apartment along with some details regarding what I needed and my price cap. Samantha Jablon contacted me on the same day with a few additional questions. Over the next few days, Samantha sent a variety of videos and pictures and details of apartments in a variety of their buildings. She was extremely helpful in answering any and all questions I had, about the apartments, the buildings, Brandywine as a management company, the neighborhood and the city of Philadelphia. She was completely honest and forthcoming in her answers and was incredibly helpful in finding an apartment under unusually difficult and stressful circumstances. Under no circumstances did it ever feel like she was trying to turn the trying circumstances of finding an apartment to their advantage. I selected an apartment and Samantha was incredibly helpful in making the application process as easy as possible. Having nothing whatsoever to do with Brandywine, my move was less than a smooth process. My estimated time arrival was so far off as to be absurd. Katie and Maggie at Brandywine went out of their way to ensure that I was able to get into my apartment and begin the moving process on a Saturday night. I felt awful about it. Yet they were incredibly kind and understanding about it and really went out of their way to be helpful for no reason other than to be nice people. When I did move in, the apartment was actually better than I had hoped for. Yes, it is in an 18th century building. However, it is in excellent condition. I met the building's maintenance staff on Monday, and they were all extremely helpful in getting to know the building and to make sure that everything in my apartment was in good working order. My experience with Brandywine has been entirely positive. Everybody I have interacted with has been remarkably professional, courteous and kind beyond what I personally would ask from anybody. Beyond Brandywine, when I did move in, the residents of the building have all been exceptionally friendly as well. I had people literally offering to help me move in. I was quite taken aback by the warmth and friendliness of my new neighbors. I wholly recommend giving Brandywine the opportunity to work with you if you are in the market for an apartment rental in Philadelphia's Old City. Personally, my experience with each person on their staff has been a truly pleasant surprise.
