The National Old City Apartments

I've lived in six different apartment buildings across NYC, Chicago, and Philly, and none have come close to our experience at the National. In our apt search in Philly, we encountered a lot of buildings with staff who seemed unprofessional or indifferent. Our experience with the National was completely different, and we were so impressed that we decided to sign a lease without even visiting the apartment in person. Much of our positive experience can be attributed to Mike, Tim, and Amanda, the management team at the National who foster a warm and welcoming community here. A great example of this is that you will see residents every day just stopping to hang out with them in the office.
Beyond this, maintenance requests are met with high responsiveness, and the building itself is very clean and well-maintained. We've also appreciated the pet-friendly policies and would fully recommend to anyone looking for an apt in Philly.

I toured the National and was impressed by the friendliness and staff but ultimately decided not to sign for the lack of value. Two of my good friends live there and they have no complaints about the building or maintenance staff. I never felt pressured or deceived and I really appreciated that.
I couldn't get past the lack of amenities and price tag. When I was looking for a new place and touring (2023), The National seemed competitive with buildings like The View, Franklin, and Bridge on race, yet it doesnt even have an included fitness center. It's just a small gym with a discounted membership fee that in my opinion takes a slightly expensive for the area gym membership and makes it closer to market rate/reasonable for the neighborhood. There is a small common area and a rooftop, albeit with a limited view. I wouldnt rent any unit here for more than $2k for a 1br here Parking also seemed expensive compared to the neighborhood. Againbeautiful and well-maintained building but I really think you can get much much more bang for your buck right now elsewhere.

We lived at the National for over two years and loved it. Great neighborhood, and we were very happy with our apartment and the buildings amenities. The staff at the National were amazing.

Our time at The National has been the best renting experience my partner and I have ever had - the neighborhood is fantastic, the units are well-maintained and a good size with all the luxuries that make an apartment great (AC, dishwasher, in unit laundry, etc), but most importantly the management and building staff are kind and go above and beyond for their tenants, such a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend living here!
