Recently went in...What happen to Shandong? I use to work and live close to the restaurant before covid and I remember at any given time the front dining room and the back dining room was clean and open-not the case now. Only the front is open (with barely anyone dining in) and the back is filled with kitchen junk. This placed used to be filled with people lunch and dinner. I also remember employees being very informative about the food when asked. Not the case now. I asked about a specific dish and the employee said "I don't know. I've never eaten any of that" (Heavy on the snarkiness). I miss the old Portland and I miss the old Shandong.

I have been a big fan of Shan Dong since moving to Portland. It was solid and consistent for beautiful flavorful food across the board. After the sale of the business, the experience is very different. I understand the challenges of rising food prices and employee costs. Ive dined in and ordered takeout several since the turnover. The quality of the food, service and ambiance of this little gem seems to be waining.
