UPDATE:
My 2nd visit was not horrible, but not having any conditioner in the room pretty much ruined my stay. They do not have individual small bottles, which I'm all for, but the conditioner bottle was empty. The bottles are bolted onto the wall of the bathroom and you can't see how much is left. Sounds dramatic, but if you have a really long hair and there is no conditioner, it's a big problem. No time to stop, call the Front Desk, and wait however long, as I was getting ready for work. Other than that, this hotel is still a nice place.

What a great hotel! The staff were all very courteous, and the Front Desk actually answers their phones! The room upgrade was very much appreciated as well. I always stay at the Duniway because it's right by my office but this hotel is definitely worth the walk. The water pressure is incredible, which is huge for me. The only complaints I had are the slow wifi and a couple of hairs I found in the bathroom. If they got Chromecast, I'd never stay anywhere else in Portland.

Rooms were pretty old, thin walls, felt a little uncomfortable and cramped. Someones car got broken into right in front of our eyes out front so beware. Crowded and not very private. Overheard the owner berating the cleaning lady for doing the floors on the wrong day and was appalled at the treatment, immediately lost all respect. I feel bad for the nice front desk workers that have to be here

Lovely place to stay for a few nights. Fair price and nice service. Its not the 4 seasons so all the people complaining are full of beans. I have paid more for less quality accommodations. Thanks Benson staff for making Portland more enjoyable!

The Benson is a fantastic hotel, the lobby is such a nice place to sit and hang out. I also really liked the beds.
Only thing I will say is that the hotel is very easy to miss while driving and it's even harder to figure out where to go for the valet service. Due to that I ended up getting frustrated and parking in the near by public parking.
Edit March 2023: I got upgraded to a sweet! The living area is super comfy and had a great desk to work at. (Thank goodness because I had a huge assignment due). I ordered door dash and the door man each time would let me know, even though I was in the lobby. Like they knew who I was. Very flattering. I will say hands down the best beds I have ever slept in in a hotel. Plus the blackout curtains make it even better than my house.
Rooms: Large comfortable rooms. The temperpedic bed was fantastic. Although sleeping in past 8 am isn't possible because you can hear the maids knocking loudly through the halls...
