Dr. Walter takes a very straight to the point approach to her practice, which is of course important concerning the seriousness and oft scary situations for patients that need a gastroenterologist. If you prefer a more clinical approach to your healthcare, then I would recommend her. However if youre seeking someone more encouraging, or if you have multiple chronic illnesses, I may suggest looking elsewhere. It took onlooking friends, family and caregivers a while to see why Ive straight up asked to be handled delicately- deliberately, due to patterns of behavior that lead me here being so largely influenced by anxiety, and an extremely turbulent period of my life(Loss of housing, relationships, jobs, pain, physical capacities at a young age etc.) When stress impacts your body and choices, compassion and kindness are as important to me as guidelines outside You cant drink, join AA. (Id also suggest offering evidence based alternatives to 12 step programs for liver patients.)
One star detracted is more a reflection of Kaiser, though Ive had other doctors fully aware of booking issues prioritize, stress, and be sure to set up appointments ASAP with me as their patient. Maybe this is a time when gastrointestinal doctors are in high demand but short supply, I wouldnt be surprised. But unfortunately for being life threateningly ill, this is the doctor Ive seen least frequent out of my care team.
