        My husband and I are nearing our 30th year with TIAA-CREF having purchased both mutual funds and life insurance. When TIAA-CREF announced it no longer would sell new life insurance policies we were too old to switch elsewhere without significant additional cost. The servicing of our life policies is a nightmare. They refuse to provide any sort of bill even electronic (why is that legal?). Updated information is via snail mail and takes days. The only way to pay by automation is via credit card (no direct regular bank payments accepted). In other words this company does everything possible to encourage missed and lapsed payments of coverage for long term and loyal customers. When you do business with them, know the kind of company you are dealing with and take your money elsewhere.
