Not only one of my fav restaurants in my area, but one of my fav restaurants ever. Truly so unique and with such amazing food every single time, and the friendliest staff.

This was my first time at DAntan. Id been wanting to go for a while and I was really expecting a lot more. The atmosphere is 5/5 as there are wine bottles displayed throughout, cute Polaroids on the walls, romantic lighting, fresh flowers and candles on the tables and the iron chandelier hanging in the middle of the room is just wow absolutely stunning. The disappointment, however, began with the service. While the server was extremely sweet and seemed well-intentioned, I had to ask for a food menu after being seated and waiting a while (there was only one other couple in the restaurant), I ordered a bottle of sparkling water and he brought it and lemon slices (a nice touch) but not the glasses for us to drink the sparkling water out of which I also had to point out after waiting a while. I also asked for a napkin because it wasnt obvious that there was one in the utensil envelope and when he told me it was there, I pulled out what would be comparable to a thin brown napkin you get at your local corner deli with your coffee. When my friend asked for another napkin, he brought her a thicker and larger blue and white one which seemed more apt for dining and I asked if he could bring me one too. Its just odd to be campaigning so much for a proper dining napkin? Now, on to the food. First off, these menu prices are really high which gave me the false impression of quality and taste. The artichoke appetizer ($16) we ordered was served cold when it was supposed to be a hot dish (??) - we ate it a bit confused, it was very mediocre tasting, and when the server asked how the dish was, I said it was just ok and said it was cold and the server compd it when he clarified it was supposed to be hot. He went and had a word with the kitchen about it. A hot mediocre artichoke dish in red sauce wouldve been ok? But a cold one? Nah. For mains, my friend ordered the tagliatelle and I ordered the cod. For a whopping $36, I expected way more out of the cod but it was bland layered with more bland. Im sure the only seasoning used was salt and most of it on the fish. The fish *was* cooked really well, but between that and the supposed saffron potato pure, there was no flavor. The carrots were just whole-roasted plain ol carrots. I think pasta is the only way to go when ordering from here; my friends tagliatelle was pretty tasty and perfect for a cold night. She had to ask for parmesan and black pepper because it wasnt offered to her when she got the pasta. I thought that was a pretty standard thing to offer but perhaps now Im just being nit picky. We finished our mains and the server asked if we wanted to look at the dessert menu and we said yes and then we saw that the tiramisu costs $21 and we just had to laugh about it and then get out of there as soon as possible. My conclusion is for these insane prices, they really need to improve their flavoring on the non-pasta dishes, make sure the dishes are actually hot when theyre supposed to be and the service needs to be moreservice-y. I probably wont be coming back here any time soon unfortunately.
